This set will go loud without distorting but it does not sound very good.A bit boxy sounding(sort of enclosed sound, slightly muffled) not very natural sounding.

There are various sound modes available:music, speech, movies, custom but they don't improve things much in MY opinion, you MAY find the sound acceptable.

Personally I would recommend some sort of sound system to complement the tv.Do you have a decent stereo/hi-fi in the same room as the tv,if so run the tv through that, you will see a huge difference(depending on what stereo you have).

Hi Sandy,
i understand you also have this TV. Tell me, have you had any sound problems with this set? I heard that the sound can be a bit distorted when you turn up the volume?
thanks

I haven't noticed any distortion at all, but I mostly listen via my sound system, as the sound from most TVs is usually very poor,:thumbsdow also, as I listen well into the small hours, I use headphones quite a lot:smashin:

Hello,
Unfortunately i don't have any other sort of sound system. I did once have the panasonic cinema system but had to get rid of it as it was underused. Also freed up lot's of space in the living room. Maybe i will just wait and see. If it is normal sound like the usual TV's then good, i'll be happy with that.

Re. the sound, as kbfern said, there are a few options in the sound menu you can try, and there's a possibility you could find one that suits, it's just that almost any system can improve on the inbuilt one supplied, that goes for most TV systems, but don't let that put you off buying this excellent set.:smashin:

Thanks kjt2004.
I guess my only worry would now be the whopping 480W this beasts consumes. My older 44" projector consumes 225W so i'll have to be prepared for higher electricity bills :(

Hi

I have routed mine so that the Tv(you know the type those 3 way individually surge mains plugs) is on one plug and the other devices are on another plug that way i can switch it off completely when not in use.

Regards

My wife bought me this tv for my xmas & i have no complaints, The picture is spot on & i think the sound is ok, Its not going to blow your socks of but its like the sounds system in my car, When i bought it it had a rubbish cd player & 4 small speakers, 6 months after i bought the car it has 12 speakers, 3 amps, a power cap & over 3000watts of power & im over £2k lighter in the pocket but the sound is amazing so it depends if you are happy letting the tv do the work or want to spend more money on a sound system, But as i said im happy with the sound that the tv puts out, Oh and by the way make sure you upgrade the firmware, The next download is next monday i think, You can go here to find out when it is going to be broadcast again.

Hope this helps........... :)
