Bought the pronto 2mb last week and sheesh! I no computer newbie but it seems as if Philips have gone out of their way to make this the most difficult remote to use.

I'm determined to make it work - I love the idea of having a really lazy remote control (only having to press one button where I used to have to press about five)

Also I've looked on remotecentral.com and found the same question raised - why is there no beginners guide to programming the pronto. Even unofficial.

Anyway I'm off now to waste the rest of the week programming my remote.

I found that I learnt most about programming mine by downloading every CCF from Remotecentral, then running them on the emmulator to see how they performed. This gave me an insight on the different ways of programming. Initially, every button on mine was a learnt or programmed code, now I use several hidden screens to hold all the device codes and alias everything to them. This enables me to change things without re-learning. Oh, and remember, any button can perform macros, and if you want the backlight to come on whenever you touch the screen, set the sensitivity all the way to the right.

    Martin.

p.s. you'll waste years, not a week playing with it.

I have a Marantz RC500 which is very similar although not identical. I downloaded a user guide for it from MarantzAmerica.com
Is there something similar for the Pronto perhaps. Maybe the Marantz manual has enough in common to be useful; or perhaps just enough in common to be useless! I dont know.
As last post says I learnt most by downloading ccf's.
I've worn the paint off mine and i'm still trying to get it just right. One tip it is worth getting the computer and the tv in the same room so you can check results quickly if possible.

Just visit www.remotecentral.com and get all the info you need to program the Pronto.

What kit are you using the remote for?

If you download the Pronto edit manual from RC, you'll find by combining it & the Pronto manual things become a lot clearer. Also run a search on RC for any problems you have. You will find the answer there. I can't praise that site high enough!!
