Last Nintendo console i had was SNES.

So i have no clue about GameCube games.

As my new Wii will play them, what games are classics that i could look out for on ebay?

Just my personal opinion but I thought Luigis Mansion was an awful game. I'll accept the other ones

Can you play old gamecube games on the Wii then? I thought you had to purchase them online using the points system thing?

Am thinking of getting some good gamecube games as I doubt my Wii will ever turn up from Currys

There are two or three threads like this, i'll say the same thing.

A freeloader and Winning Eleven 6: Final Evolution.

You need a Gamecube controller and probably best to get a Cube memory card. Unless you fancy starting all your games from the start each time :D

Anyone else agree that while the wii is quite reasonably priced the cost of buying accessories is not?

I had to buy an extra nunchuck, 3 extra remotes, and if I want play classi games, a classic controller and if I want play gamecube games, a gamecube controller and a gamecube memory card.

I’m sure GC games could have been saved to the internal memory and GC and classic controllers could be alternatives.

I could easily spend £150 on top before I buy any games.

Not to mention GAME's overpriced accessories £17.99 for a nunchuk! and £22.99 for a rgb cable!

Wish I had kept my GC now - sold it for my 360 in april

My friend managed to find a 4Mb GC memory card for £3 on ebay, so it might be worth checking out.

Try second hand shops. I saw some cube stuff going really cheap the other day.

I already have the cube games and memory cards from my cube anyway.

The cool thing is, cause you can use the mem cards, I have all my old saves and can finish off games i didn't finish before.

    My recommendations:
    Pikmin 1 & 2 (2 is better)
Zelda Wind Waker (one of _the_ best games ever)
    Metroid Prime
    Luigi Mansion (kids love this)
Wario Ware (but I'd wait for the Wii version)
Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader (III is not so good)
    Mario Kart
    Mario Golf

Alas, most of mine are USA versions so I hope Datel sort out the Freeloader soon.

Just picked up Wario Ware Party games for 7.99.
They had Paper mario too - but I haven't got around to playing my DS Yoshi yet.
Metroid Prime 2 Echoes was there too for 12.99, but I haven't got the time. I've still only managed 4 hours on Zelda TP!

    I don't rate Luigi's mansion.
Don't buy Pikmin unless you're sure either - wasn't for me at all.
Mario Kart is an absolute must - any version will do!

It is genius on the part of Nintendo. It will just breathe new life and create new revenue from their old games. Smart cookies!

The first one was in my local game shop for 4.99 - maybe I should have picked it up.

Can you play Donkey Konga, using the GC Bongos?
    - it's something that my children have always wanted to do, but we've never have a GC (they've got a Wii for Christmas although they don't know it!)

It must be really cool to be giving a Wii as a surprise gift. - Nice one. I'd like to know about Konga too.

Although perhaps I should add it's a "used one" (well the Mrs and I had to make sure it all worked :D :D and when it's opened at Christmas I'll have to undo all the wires and plug it in - again.... :D :D )

Excellent list, though I'd recommend picking up Banana Blitz instead of SMB2. (steep learning curve if you're played the other games, but it's great fun)

I'd also recommend F-Zero, Ikaruga, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time (though the combat sucks) and while you can't play it online on the Wii, I still enjoy playing Phantasy Star Online. The Pikmin games are great, but I've only played the original. Oh, and I'd personally recommend avoiding Prime 2 (I know it's not on the list) I'm a huge Metroid fan (bought every game so far) and it was just tedious. Nintendo should never have let Retro Studios do it on their own.

Luigi's Mansion was great fun, especially for a launch game... you just didn't ¨get¨ it.

And you should - it's the best in the series, and one of the best arcade racers out there. :smashin:

Super Monkey Ball (not the sequel)
    Zelda Wind Waker
    Metroid Prime
    Paper Mario 2
    Resident Evil remake
    Resident Evil 4
    Mario Golf
Tales of Symphonia (if you're into old style jpn rpgs)
Donkey Konga series (if you can find the drums for cheap)
