I just got in the Maple version of the PB12-Plus/2 sub. SVS seemed great to work with, order went smooth, shipped quickly. It came packaged nice, the only issue, that there were some cosmetic scratches in it.

I was wondering if that is kinda normal, I don't really feel like raising a stink and sending it back, but kinda disapointed, that the "furniture" quailty isn't there.

Any suggestions on breaking in this beast?

Post some pics please, would love to see it.

essential sub movies if you have all these.

nemo (darla scene mainly, chapter 25)
    incredibles
    U571
star wars 1 (the pod race mainly)
    minority report (the gun part)
    gladiator
saving private ryan (really only the opening 20mins or so)
Toy story 2 (the opening sequence mainly)

I'm just after being testing bass on my new fronts and was using all of the above hence the list for you.

I'm sorry to hear about the scratches Nick. Take this problem up immediately with SVS by Email. Value for money in the performance department doesn't mean the furniture quality should suffer.

Explain your problem to SVS in simple terms. This is not "creating a stink". It simply explains your disatisfaction with the finish which you have paid for.

If you have a digital camera you can take some pictures of the scratches to send to them if they ask. This will help them to judge what to do about it depending on the severity of the scratches.

In the meantime I'd go ahead and connect it up and enjoy it. SVS has an excellent reputation for customer service. But they need to know your problems exist before anything happens at their end.

    Regards
    Nimby

I would disagree with oconnpad and would suggest that you play "normal" films at "normal" levels plus some bassy music for a week or so to let the driver loosen up up a bit before trying to see what it's capable of.

Yeah, I emailed SVS and already got a response back from Ron, I'm impressed, he agreed that it should of been scratch free.

I'll have to take some pics and send him.

    Nick
I recently purchased a PB12 it was damaged on route by Bax i assume
A corner was damaged veneer cracked and compressed etc.
SVS were superb they swapped me out a replacement, which is perfect.
I also have a pb2 plus ,in my cinema set up (oldname for yours) I watched the flight of the pheonix
last night check out the sand storm (after the crash, quite a way into the film)
    the bass is just unbeliveable!
I would also check out the films mentioned above
Mine is now set at 25hz and no ports blocked, the impact and the way my room
    is pressuriesd is amazing
