first things first i cant believe the amount of fluff and crap behind my AV stand :rotfl: i pulled the AV rack away and the fluff dragged it back  :D the cable monstrosity and general dissaray round the back was enough to give me second thoughts straight away about an overhaul but i ploughed on regardless but what a job.

after about a year of too`ing and throughing i took the plunge on monday and bought a pw7 from richer sounds plus swivel stand and component board (at the price i payed it would be rude not to),i work night so i did the little things before work and took tonight off to spend the majority of the day playing :) lol.

well first of all im really happy at the pic quality (most important) on sky,dvd or whatever i choose to watch.i wasnt expecting the pic to be as nice without a lot of tweeking and maybe a few hours on the clock to warm up but after knocking the contrast down and putting it into normal picture mode im really genuinley impressed.so far after watching itv2 liverpool game (not the best chanel for football either) and the comedy channel im happy to say the pic is as good as it was on my really nice CRT sony.

switched on the advanced settings but never touched anything as i couldnt make head nor tale.would you recommend the component switcher from AV sales ? i cant afford it this month but would be interested to know if you have used one.

i have been watching all kinds of stuff on my screen all night and i dont know wether its the initial novelty factor or the fact im genuinley happy but i swear the picture is getting nicer by the hour,or am i in plasma honeymoon hype mode or something lol.

watched some sopranos season 5,dodgeball and any given sunday and i actually caught myself grinning at the picture quality, unintentionally aswell.sorry to keep banging on about my new screen but im really enjoying everything im watching on it.i dont know wether the pv500 just wasnt setup aswell as the little tweeks i have done(very very basic stuff i might add) but im more impressed with the SD picture on this SD panel then i was with the pv500.

i did think the same thing. The picture seemed to get better as the hours on the Panny went up. Proberly rubbish but there you go.

Still walk into my lounge and smile when i see my Panny up on the wall

Another satisfied PW7 owner - Nice one ;0)

    Hi,

Just starting out in the HT game, so no major kit.. took lots of advice from these forums

My sources - dvd, xbox (modded for component out) and toppy freeview go through a denon 1905 component (3 in, 1 out), then by (RCA->BNC) in to the PW7. I plan to hook my dreambox up using JS Tec RBG->VGA and that should be me about done. Denon runs audio to the cantons that sound ace. Only downside is I've left my xbox for live in another room hooked up to a wee lcd as I just could not get it working smoothly (too much fiddling with audio switching etc).

I was worried that a "non-commercial" tv may be too hard for the rest of the household to work, but the denon makes it a breeze - three big buttons on the remote, tv, dvd and xbox. It recalls audio settings, the lot. The hole thing is a big change from my old "all in one" sony home theatre and kv36fs CRT.

Cables are expensive though.... van damme rca-component 10m was about 90 quid, pitcure is worth it though (mind you, i've never seen the panel supplied with a "cheapo" cable, maybe i'll try it one day just to satisfy myself that the expensive way first was best - or maybe I'll regret it :suicide:)

    Cheers,
    Ian

    Ian,

Good setup fella. You wont regret the JS box upgrade. Nice to read how other peeps have there Pannys setup.

I went from a 32" FX66 Sony set. Couldnt fault the picture of it but once i found this board and a few PM's to Horny D i was on the other end of the phone to AV Sales ordering a PW7. best thing i have bought in years although the otherhalf doesnt seem to think so. New pair of shoes kept her quiet - ;0)

I have just got my PWD7 up and running for the last 3 days and am highly delighted with the picture quality - though no doubt it could do with fine-tuning (may well consider professional calibration).

What have you done about the black bars top & bottom when you play DVD films? The aspect ratio change only allows to spread the picture a little and the zoom both on the screen and DVD player are either nothing or 2X or 4X - both of which is to much, leading to graininess.

if i have black bars i just leave them there mate,im not stretching, squashing a picture.there only there for 3 hours at best .i fell asleep the otherday after getting home from my night shift with the plasma on and it had a sky + recording playing on it and when the film finished you get the usual "end of recorded programme" message, now that was there from my calculations for 3 hours atleast static and there wasnt the slightest bit of image retention

I have to jump in on this thread and say, I too am delighted with my PWD7. It's currently connected up through a scart board and the pq is still excellent on sky, dvd's and xbox.

If you're in the market for a plasma and can't afford a HD ready one, the price Maw is offering them for is incredible. I had a great deal on mine just 3 weeks ago but it can't touch Maw's offer. Take him up on it quick, you won't be dissapointed.

I agree, MAW's offer is outstanding value, I paid nigh on £2k 6 months ago for the same screen with a 3 year waranty and wall bracket.

I see Richers are doing the european grey market trick again.

Maw is including a component board, so that would be VGA & component, unless you asked for domethink different of course

Why should we trust him........ cos he is a bloody good retailer who knows what he is talking about and if you look through the forum he has a wealth of knowledge.

Check out his website. I would rather buy a PWD off Maw them off some of the se internet websites selling grey spec Pannys.

Just my two pence. No Maw is not my better looking brother or do i work for him but we did a trade once and it went through very smoothly

I've just read that the offer ends on Friday so you may need to be quick (or wait for the PWD8 at unknown price)
