Hi to all here at av forums :hiya::hiya::hiya:

After many many years of viewing hundreds of threads and very little contribution to this fantastic site I have taken the 1st step in to the magical world of projection viewing pleasure and right now I cant wait for 5 days time when the equipment arrives.

please be gentle but I have gone for the Optoma HD23 £500 from the manufacturer refurb on flea-bay I hope this is a good choice and I based my decision purely on reviews.

I will use it for movies, football and gaming on a 92 inch screen, At the mo I have a 42' Samsung that has provided endless hours of fun and a Yamaha amp for the home cinema experience now its time to take it up a notch.

I will update later in the week when im sure I will explode :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

I, like you, am a noob to this. Only had my first projector plugged in for a couple of days, I can safely say you will not be disappointed. Watched my first film in full last night and it was absolutely spectacular.
Only regret is I didn't do this sooner :)

+1 for the benq w1070, got one a couple of weeks ago, got a 2.1m wide screen and I must say the picture is stunning, many times better than an LCD unit, bright and saturated, rich colours.

    Great fun.

Hey, I'm using a 100" screen and I'm sitting about 3 metres away. Really makes it a fantastic event sitting down to watch a film :)

Enjoy! I got my first ever projector at Xmas, I went for the optoma hd230x and I have it on a 120" screen
Very happy with it I must say.

I only use it for films as I have to keep the pc in the man room for gaming :(

Something awesome about sticking a film in and screen coming down/pj turning on. Real cinema feeling

Somewhere around 6pm the hd23 should be up and blowing my mind.
I'm impressed with the electric screen it's very quiet and smooth when opening and closing and the size is better than I imagined almost an event watching it come down lol.
My test movie is that small box office offering called avatar!!!!

Well i had my Benq w1070 for all of 25 mins and now its getting returned. Room is not big enough for the throw distance and also i cannot fit my 92 inch screen in.

Did you not check the measurements and use the calculator before you purchased?

Also don't forget the W1080ST which has a much shorter throw that the 1070. Bit more expensive but likely cheaper than a 65" TV I would guess.
