I have this set and 360, not sure, but I wouldn't try it, reading through the manual, it refers to PIP as possible reason for screen burn, and especially as yours is fresh out the box I would avoid.

It gives a fixed picture - left and right. Or, one main one on the left, and 3 on the right side. It's all explained in the manual.

Congratulations the Hitachi is a great set, my son plays his Xbox 360 on it all the time and no retention problems at all. The PIP function is good fun you can play the Xbox on one side of the screen and have TV on the other side, you can use the remote to swap audio to whichever source that you want!:smashin:

I also bought my PD9700 from John Lewis on Friday. Absolutely delighted

They also did a price match with Sound and Vision which brought it down to approx. £880

I'd recommend you set the Xbox 360 to 1080i output, and change the TV setting to 'Full 2' (press the aspect ratio button on the bottom row, then press right on the direction pad until Full 2 is selected).

This will be the best match between your 360 and TV (and any other 1080 source - Sky HD, HD-DVD, PS3/Blu Ray etc.)

An update since having the beast for over a week now.

I thought long and hard about what to get and have to say that the SD quality is very good, Sky HD is tremendous and the sound is pretty good, although will probably fit something at a later date.

Overall very impressed and have had no issues at all such as high pitched whining:thumbsup:

Nice to see people getting on well with the PD9700's, mines been fine allso
no wistle and picture is good on sd and hd, and gotto comment the sound is really good, wasn't expecting it to be so good really was suprised. My tv was on for over 24 hours the other day, as i fell asleep watching discoveryHD at night and no problem at all with it, just do a screen wipe now and again cause of the dreaded channel markers in the corners, was dubious about buying it at first with the bad psu faults and contrast shift problems but i have been well impressed so far.

    Thx tingull :)
