not heard anything faulty about those, but check out the Superbit version of Jurasic Park on yesasia.com! Price is a bit steep though. But tempted!

Yes, I think there was a problem with the LFE.
When Jurassic Park was first released on dvd with
a dts soundtrack, fans who already had the laserdisc
version noticed that the bass levels were'nt up to scratch
(I'm not sure in what way though).
Anyway, the studio took note and released an improved version
but the online stores still stock the original as I found out when
I got in touch with dvdboxoffice who couldn't guarantee that I
    would receive the newer copy.
Like you, I was a bit concerned that I would get the inferior version so I therefore decided to hold off.
Then I heared that a Japanese superbit disc was out with a
full bit-rate dts track and I ordered it straight away.
Well, I must admit, this is one excellent dts soundtrack!
The LFE are up there with The Haunting Dts ES imo.
The fidelity is superb and the surround usage left me with a
big childish grin on my face
I have no hesitation in recomending this disc but, as I haven't heared the original dts version, I can't tell you if it's worth paying
over twice as much as the copy available on play.
I beleive that Phil will be posting a review of the Japanese disc
shortly so maybe he can shed some light on whether it's worth
getting instead of taking a risk with the one on offer at play

Matt has told me he has the review nearly finished and it should be in my inbox tonight, so i will get it posted within the hour.

And Matt (our new reviewer) has let slip that the sound area of the review will be controversial.

Wasn't the subwoofer channel messed up on the initial dts release? (something like +3, +6 or +10dB)

It wasn't mixed correctly and was infact -9db yet at normal on the centre channel which sounded odd. I used to have the dts LD and the R1 dvd and i sold the dvd quickly. I wont be getting rid of my R2 Japanese disc;)

    22.52 and it's still not finished:rolleyes:

Almost there though, should be up tomorrow. Actually it's not too controversial, but there's a huge difference in soundtracks.

I should have the R1 dts edition for comparison within the next week or so also...

Done now, and sent to Phil. He should hopefully have it posted tomorrow sometime.

Shame I don't have the R1 dts for comparison, but like I say I'll hopefully have it within the next week or 2.

I recall Universal suggesting the R1 dts had been 'optimised' for the majority of systems (small main speakers) and told us to set up our systems this way. But then they changed the soundtrack so it could have been BS.

I have the "faulty" version and it sounds ok to me!
