I went to the Frontier Expo on Saturday (for Elite: Dangerous) and they had a bunch of stuff about Jurassic World. Looked quite good, and had a talk from a palaeontologist explaining about dinosaurs 'n stuff.

Jurassic park operation Genesis was literally my life. Let’s hope Jurassic World Evolution lives up to its previous game. Can’t wait for it.

      I cant wait for this!
As well as being a fan of the JP movies, I used to love playing Theme Park and Sim City back in the day on my Amiga CD and SNES, so this title seems like the perfect combo for me.

I've bought it on PS4 and just posted this one in the Xbox section as a few were concerned at the one IGN review.

I'd took a gamble on this before reviews went live as pre-ordered off PSN (sorry I'm posting on here but I'd hate someone overlook it based on one review), although I have not read the full review I'm perplexed at the bad score it got with play on words that its a dina-bore. I've had around 3 hours on it so far and I'm loving it, capture the atmosphere of the franchise spot on especially with the soundtrack. I love how for certain tasks in the game it lets you be more hands on rather than point and click, for example going after an escaped dining your chopper and hitting it with your tranq gun or shooting a dino with a meds to cure a disease, one task early on had me taking a photo of a dino eating in its natural habitat whilst parked up in my ranger jeep.

It's very early days and time will tell if it becomes the bore IGN label it to be but the musical anthem bursting out of my speakers when I complete certain tasks will not get old, I can't wait until I hatch a T-Rex and crank my sound system up to hear it roar as it comes out the gate. I'll post more as I play and learn but like any other base building management sim, this seems to have as much depth as you want to get from it and its got authenticity dripping out of it.

Yeah the disc version comes out on the 3rd of July.

I caved in and bought this yesterday and I absolutely love it. I went on about 7pm just to have a quick look and the next thing I knew it was 11pm.

My top two highlights are that I forgot to close a gate and two of my herbivore dinos got loose. Watching large groups of visitors running around screaming was really funny. Watching my two carnivores chase goats around and then eating them like popcorn is brilliant.

I highly reccomend playing this at some point.

Been playing it a lot on PC (20+ hours easily) and to be honest I'm more inclined to go with the IGN review being honest.

Its not bad, its not great, it perfectly fits in the 'meh' category.

Fyi - I'm more of a console gamer but I would hate to play this on console as its fiddly at the best of times

The only fiddly bit for me is when you try and line up a new building with an existing path, other the that it's fine.

I have put about 6hrs into the game so far and I have unlocked 3 of the 5 islands so not much time
      at all really.

      How much for a T-Rex ?

I will have to increase the prices in all my shops to compensate growing one.

Lol wait until you start messing with its DNA

No need to inflate your prices, general rule is double the cost. You want to make money on any island the key isnt the amount of shops or the cost, its the amount & variety of dinos

On the last island at the mo. Quite funny, I spunked the entire opening budget on just the entrance, had to do some extra expeditions to make cash (tip - make sure you have 2x Yields on). Then with all the tornadoes etc whilst i was building I just thought it would be safer to leave shelters open. Finally finished building and somehow I made $100m in that time without anyone leaving a shelter. Makes no sense

      Only double prices?
I put the prices up until the hourly income drops, the night vision goggles cost me $20 to buy and I have them selling for about $62.

I am now working on the variety rating on the 3rd island hence why I noticed the price of the Rex. The island was in debt so I had to sell almost everything and have only just rebuilt all the command units etc.

I will have a look at the 2x Yields but I am not really sure what that is. Do I look in the options to change that ?

General rule so you dont lose money, anything after that is a bonus. When I click on a building I pump up to max staff, then I make sure that I'm not losing money. So probs around $35 for the night vision or something. Stickers for example. Cost £2. I'll sell at $7. I'll turn a profit but the real money comes from ticket sales which means more money, which in turns means more dinos

Yeah, 3rd island is a bit of a pig. I did it by selling the visitor building and selling the stuff i found on digs.

Upgrade expedition centre. 3 slots but only 2 upgrades - Dig Speed & Dig Yield (depends if you have unlocked them yet). Stick 1 speed on and 2 yields. Keep sending out digs and sell the extras you get (platinum etc...or fossils once you 100% them). You can use one of your profitable islands to send them out and research the fossils, keeping the extras in inventory. Then go back to your in-debt island and then sell the extras. Its how I did that island. Thats actually my favourite island now

Hold off on Rex until you have the cash. Variety. Just make sure you have lots of varying breeds of dinos. A lot will go in same pens as others. Velociraptors will happily live with bigger dinos no problem for example. I have Rex in with Diplodocus etc. So maximise the space you have

Theres probably better more comprehensive lists but this gives you an idea :

Jurassic World Evolution - What Dinosaurs Can Live Together | GameWatcher

Long story short. Dependent on individual needs, herbivores are all cool together, large carnivores can go in with small carnivores or large herbivores, small carnivores can go in with large carnivores or herbivores

Actually now you mention it I did research something like Yield yesterday, I remember because I also researched the ability to send out 2 expedition teams. I will have a look when I next go on.

I have about $2 million now on the 3rd island and making a good profit. I only have 2 exhibits but planning the 3rd and 4th so laying down roads and power etc.
I actually haven't been back to my previous islands either so I will do that when I go on next.

I've been jumping back and forth. Trying to get 5 star rating on 2nd island which unlocks a 3rd dig team. Honestly...stumped. No idea how to do it

I thought about a complete rebuild to allow for more traffic etc and designed the last island with that in mind. According to the stats no one wants for anything...but I only have 'ok' capacity?!

6 hotels, a ton of food places, 13 bunkers, a perfect monorail system that stops all over the place plus weaves through enclosures and a RIDICULOUS amount of observation towers in each enclosure plus those sphere things. Felt a bit defeated by that tbh as I've no idea how to do it on an ok island versus this one thats near perfection

Stick 2 yields on. Send out your teams to t-rex sites a few times. You'll have some nice extras guaranteed

Anyone noticed the biggest flaw in this game?

      Velociraptors.

Throughout the films these are the main problem. Yet in this they are so easy. Whack a load in a paddock, stick some food in. Zero problem

Herbivores are by far the hardest to look after
