this is from comming soon .net. :)

Dark Horizons has posted an update on Jurassic Park 4 taken from an interview with special effects guru Stan Winston which appeared in Cinemania magazine:

"It's definitely going ahead. There will be a Jurassic Park IV. We're all very excited at the prospect of working together again, because doing a Jurassic movie is like a big family reunion. Everyone pretty much knows everyone else, so it's a lot of fun. I also enjoy the challenge of once again raising the bar and bringing the world something extraordinary.

Admittedly things have somewhat slowed on the development of the film, as Steven [Spielberg] wasn't very enthused with the first couple of screenplay drafts. I think he felt neither of them balanced the science and adventure elements effectively. It's a tough compromise to reach, as too much science will make the movie too talky, but too much adventure will make it seem hollow. So we're sort of on hold at the moment, just waiting for the written word to be in place, and then it's full steam ahead, baby!"

Stay tuned for possibly more news on the movie down the road.

      Dave.

Isn’t three JP films enough? Having said that I enjoyed #3, it was a good popcorn movie. But surely we’ve seen it all now?

there were rumours it would be a prequel, but i'm hoping they turn out to be untrue, as i don't really think there would be that much of a story to tell. can't really think of much more they could do for a sequel either though, but as long as spielberg is approving the script, we can hope it'll be ok.

Excellent, I had this on pre-order from 11/9/04 from play.com before it was postponed. I see my order is still in my account at the old price of £14.99  . Well done play, I can hardly wait now!

No way, I thought JP3 was a much tighter film than JP2. JP2 was half an hour longer than it needed to be.

No Tej - I enjoyed it too. Just like in the original screen version of The Lost World (hence the nod in the subtitle of JP2) where Professor Challenger's captured Brontosaurous goes on the rampage in London, I get a kick from seeing these beasties from another age let loose in contemporary society.

Hence my lifelong love of King Kong I suppose.

I'll lay odds on that JP4 is being planned in response to the anticipated success of Peter Jackson's Kong movie, that with its dinosaur-heavy action on Skull Island is bound to create Dino-Mania all over again with a new generation of kiddywinkles.

what about maybe a human/dyno genetic mixup thingie? That'd combine the science and action!

Or might that get a little too creepy for the critters?

      No, I liked it too.
I read an interview where they said it was added on as a bit of fun and a deliberate spoof on the old Jap movies - hence the fleeing Japanese tourists. From a purists point of view it was slightly gimmicky.
      BUT
I thought the scene of the T-rex roaring in front of the city skyline was really terrific.
On another subject. I wish they would make some of these type of movies as 18 certificates.
I know it is cash driven but imagine what kind of film we could have had if it didn't have to be a 'family movie' and the restraints had been off.
I was going to go on about Terminator 2 which is a prime example but I think I'd better do that on another thread.

Imminently it would seem. A group of film-makers led by Speilberg and James Cameron are leading a fight against having just such technology applied to DVD releases of their movies.

I am sure that I heard a rumour that JP 4 was going to be set somewhere in South America in the deep jungle where some of the dinos had escaped to and set up home.

But I don’t know if this was just because you saw the pterodactyl (Apparently thats the spelling) flying off into the distance at the end.

My beef against the ending of JP2 was that it just seemed out of place. I also like alien/dinosaurs running amok in built-up suburban areas but in JP2 it seems like it was tagged on just to add to the time count. I don’t really feel it added to the film and tbh could have easily formed 2 films. For me it made the film very disjointed.

Yes the last part of JP2 with the T-Rex running amok was ace, but aren't you guys forgetting the horrific first half of the movie with the 10yr old screaming kid who could defeat Veloceraptors by using gymnastics!!  :lease: :suicide:

No the stupidest bit of JP2 IMO was the dead crew of the ship that just happens to crash straight into the dock where everyone is waiting for it!

What killed the crew? Who left the severed arm hanging onto the wheel?
It sure as hell wasn't the T-Rex!

And the killing of the bloke who tried so hard to save the main characters was brutal and gratuitously gruesome.

I too thought JP3 was much better. LOL at the ringing satellite phone! (but don't those things need line of sight to work?)

they are supposed to have either been killed on the docks of isla sorna by the raptors, just as the ship was about to leave the docks (with its course already plotted) or by the pteradons while the ship was at sea.

Whilst we are on the subject of the JP movies I would just mention that for me they are just about the most impressive demo DVDs you can put on if you want to impress someone with your setup - the noise the T-Rex makes is just astonishing :smashin:
