Not done macro for a while, I find it pretty frustrating/irritating tbh. That being said I'm looking forward to seeing the pics this month :smashin:

Uh oh....I thought it would be good to try and get a fresh take on subjects and is an easily accessible genre....

The theme "close-up / macro" to indicate non specialist i.e. Not exclusively macro

No macro capabilities here, determined to enter monthly now though so will do some tests, see how close I can get to stuff.

A few pretty cheap options to get close-up shots around even if you don't have a compact with a macro setting ;)

Good theme and the addition of 'close up' rather than just 'macro' does open it up, might even get an entry in this month myself, would of preferred Border Collie* but you can't have everything :D

*he's had a trim so had to drop the 'scruffy' :rotfl:

Ditto! Mind you a different take on flora / fauna would be cool, no?

Well I've got nowt for macro anymore. I dabbled back when I had kit lenses but the raynox type glass I bought is too small for current lenses, and was nowhere near 1:1 anyway. Not an area I have much interest in. Guess I can use 'close up' and go for an alternative take on the theme.

Would you get anywhere reversing a lens or improvising extension tubes?

I've got an old lens I could probably look into. I'll see what time I get this month to see which way I'll approach it. Besides, I always like to take an alternative approach to a theme if I can!

Not sure if I want to go microscopic....but just to see what's possible this afternoon I rigged up a 20cm tube and if my measuring is right that's getting close to 4x magnification from subject to object.

I've been browsing a few flickr groups over the weekend looking for inspiration that isn't insects or flowers, and unless I want to take a picture of a lego man or a microchip/circuitboard I've not come across anything :( Really need to get my thinking cap on o_O
