This was one unexpectedly awesome film!! I never thought it could be better than the original!! Waiting for the 3D disc through the post.

Of note, it has been a very long while since a 3D blu ray was reviewed on here. It is disappointing for 3D lovers.

Surely this review should mention how the Dolby Vision and HDR10 compare?

A surprising hit for me. Loved it.

But while we get an Atmos track which of course suits the film perfectly, does seem to be the pushing/selling point for the format. Which, while I have an Atmos set-up (even if it is just a sound bouncing rears and soundbar) for sure it's not a common situation in peoples homes to have this or better. High quality TV's are what people have and so surely a better Digital Intermediate would serve the format better?!

Anyway this should be about the film and I cant wait to get and if nothing else listen to this. It looked a bit old/silly from the trailers, but watching the whole film it all came together in a surprisingly good way. Chris Rock still played Chris Rock more than anyone else played their own character but still fine by me.

Dwayne certainly seems to be the modern day bankable character, a rare thing these days.

I watched this recently i cant stand Kevin Hart he is supposed to be a comedian but i dont find him funny at all, Jack black is the same when someone is trying to be funny it never worlks they are over acting and not believable. Dwayne Johnson now he has screen presence and he can be funny more natural.

The film itself was bad its not in the same level as the original there was actually no essence of the original in this apart from the start with the board game. It had a horrible script and even worse plot just the same typical cliches.

      I give this a low 4

A great "popcorn" movie, lots of action, a likeable cast and some good humorous moments.

      ...and Karen Gillan.

Saw this at the Dolby cinema in Vegas and was blown away by the AV presentation, but also the film. Ordered the disc Friday so hoping it gets here on Monday.

Thanks for the review Cas, I enjoyed this at the cinema and hearing my 10 year old daughter laugh out loud on many occasions during the film made it more enjoyable. I will purchase the 3d blue ray.

      No thanks!

I only watched it because the mrs bought it (that's a rarity...) plus a free perv at Karen Gillian (tasty!). Not something I'd ever watch/buy. Looks garbage, was garbage. The original wasn't great, but it was likable....in a 'so bad it's good' sort of way.

Yes saw that one as well. About the bounty hunter (Dwayne Johnson) is sent to the amazon to retrieve the son of a wealthy crime lord. Actually enjoyed that as well but it was a 2003 movie. It also went by the name The Rundown.

Got my copy through the post on Friday, looked good but sounded even better. Really enjoyed the film but think the first was better.

When it was announced for a remake I was like "Oh nooo" but it turned out far better then I thought... And it's been one of my most watched films so far.. Picked the UHD Blu-ray and 3D Blu-ray up today... I'm looking forward to the Atmos sound mix, as I've been watching the digital version via waki TV for 99p

Wasn't going to rush to get this, but saw you can get the 4K/2D/3D combo on Amazon.fr for 33 Euro, so gave it a punt.

Also can get the original in 4k on purehmv in-store for £9.99

Watched this for the first time last night. The disc itself was excellent, the drums, hippos and rhinos had my sub practically dancing along the floor! Pin sharp detail, fantastic HDR given in all its glory on the Q9, a great all round sensory experience.:D

Thoroughly enjoyed the film too, easily passed the six (and ten) laugh test. Harkened back to the silly adventure films of the 80's, great fun. 8/10.
