Jpeg artefacts in sky channels help....

I’ve just bought a Sony 46” LCD, I’m thinking the larger screen is really showing how bad my sky reception is, in dark solid colour areas the jpeg artefacts are really bad.
My sky dish and system is now around 5 years old, could this be the problem?
I don’t want to just splash out on a new receiver and dish if the problem is elsewhere, any help would be appreciated.

The use of an average even large CRT helps to disguise the inherent "poor" quality of the UK's standard def digital broadcasts on all platforms and when you go to a larger screen and especially to a fixed resolution HD display the limitations of the source material become even more pronounced.

You may have some reception issues but if your were happy before the LCD then it's more likely you are just seeing the usual issues with SD on a large HD flat panel. Checking out the LCD forum for more specific setup info on the SONY is a good place to start especially as factory settings are rarely worth using.

What does RGB scart, component or HDMI inputs look like when providing content from a DVD?
