i know he was probably trying to be "funny", but his comment on "the kids have finally ******[Clearly understood swear word edited by Garrett] off to bed - what do their 50p's matter...etc" was just plain offensive

how many school kids took part in fund raising events yesterday - all those "50p's" probably added a couple of million to the final total

    I took it as funny.

So we could all go "oh post-watershed we can say rude words and giggle". It was childish, I'll accept, but I still laughed. But it was after half 10 and my wine was nearly gone so I'd have laughed at anything.

    Same as he always does.

Problem with J Ross is, he's NOT a natural funnyman. But he probably thinks he is.

Just watch him on They Think It's All Over or on his chat show and his 'humour' looks very laboured and extremely contrived.

He's the only reason that "I watch They Think It's All Over" as he's the only one worth watching. A very funny man

Can't say i am a big fan of JR on TV but his radio show is superb. Used to listen to him on Virgin and now on R2 on Sat morning he cracks me up.

Yep, same here. His versatility is astonishing. One minute making tits & arse jokes and leaping around on TTIAO and the next sublimely hosting his rather excellent radio/TV shows.

dont get me wrong - i think the guy is hilarious usually - its just what he said in the context of the programme

his comment of "kids - what the [Clearly understood swear word edited by Garrett] do they know" was totally inappropriate for comic relief.........some of "those kids with their 50p's" are tomorrows adults who could make a difference

you'd be suprised just how concerned my 9 year old son is !!!

maybe putting down tomorrows majority was part of the humour?

Ricky Gervais & Ali G were brilliant, as always.

Still the funniest bits for me were in the comedy compilation @ about 3am (think it was shown last year as well - Cat Deely in a towel, mmm...). Eddie Izzard and Bill Bailey are frickin' geniuses... :D

I was killing myself at Ricky Gervais and seeing as where we are he was waiving "The Office" DVD around trying to plug it. I'm getting used to his humour now. When I first saw The Office I couldn't manage a whole episode because of the cringe factor. The same with him doing a plug and patronising Richard Curtis, painful but painfully funny.

Is he a comic genious or just being himself?

Insults is the new comedy. See Ricky Gervais, Dom Joly, Graham Norton and Radio 1. I'm finding it all quite boring now.

in two of my posts in this thread, i used the "eff" word - self censored by substituting the vowels for an asterix - i did this because the word was used in a specific quote and the point of my post was the offense the qote caused.

the two instances of me using the "eff" word have now been heavily censored by the mods and have had attention drawn to this in (imo) a totally unnessecary, heavy handed manner.

why should my self censored use of the "eff" word be dealt with in this way when this post:

has been ignored..........are "tits" and "arse" not considered as swearing ???

I find JR quite amusing. I found his comment amusing.

Comedy is by nature a violent and hurtful construct. Amusement is derived from something that is not the norm. From something as simple as a mispronounced word, to a leper picking their necrotic flesh. To try and police it, is to fail to understand it's nature.

In a world were your freedom of expression is being increasingly infringed and restricted by doo gooders, social inclusionists and tree hugging hippy scum, humour is the last weapon you have and possibly your only true form of criticism of the world around you.

As for kids, we'll they have too much say these days anyway. I welcome any oppurtunity that reminds them that they are disenfranchised, and that now one gives a damn what they say until they become registered voters and tax payers.

adi the words were deleted because although the vowels had been asterisked was still quite clear to all what the words were. The words you use are not allowed on the forum and if you had entered them the automatic swear word filter would have asterisked the words out.
I have PM you on the subject but according to my message tracker you have not bothered to read it yet. If you have any further comments on the subject adi please could you PM me, thanks.
