Joining Sky - any advice?

Hi,

I plan to sign up to Sky, and was wondering if anyone could give me any advice on perhaps getting a better deal, and making the most of being a new customer etc...

I will be using it with a Panasonic 42PX80B and Samsung HT-TZ315R speakers (yet to buy both).

From Sky I plan to buy a basic package (£17/month) with a Sky+ box (£99) and there should be no other costs included.

I already have my broadband with O2 (£15/month) and get unlimited downloads (which I need) and 20MB.

Appreciate any tips :)

Thanks

Hi m8

I've just joined Sky so hopefully I can give you a few bits of info. Firstly, Sky broadband Max is only £10pm so you could save £5pm if you went with Sky rather than O2.

Also the phone package is free but I'd definitely recommend the 'unlimited' package for an extra £5pm. This gives you free calls in the day, as well as evenings and weekends.

Definitely order via phone, and try to knock them down. If you have no luck, hang up and try again and you might get a nicer representative. I managed to get unlimited phone free, and also Broadband down from £17pm to £10pm.

Have a look at this topic I created a while back as that has some useful advice.

Thanks very much for the tips. Thing is, if I ordered online, I can get £70 cashback through Quidco.

More importantly, to me anyway, is you also get free International calls..........

to the top 20 international destinations. There's a list on the website and it's mostly lanlines only, apart from US and Canada mobiles which are included.

You get free calls to some international mobiles but not UK ones? Grr.

I ordered this (Sky+, talk and broadband) the other week (just got installed on Monday). I had a few questions initially and was wanting to compare them and Tiscali. I actually did the online chat session with one of their representatives and I got what I think is an alright deal through them.

£50 for Sky+ box and no installation fee, then the cost for the channels (2 mixes + sports).

Then he arranged for someone to call me back to get all the details.

I'll introduce you as a friend. You'll get your subs at £17/month, a free SKY plus box and only £30 for installation.
Once a member just add your broadband and talk packages.

hi freind
i can offer you one vital tip & that is if your property is surrounded by trees, DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY. i have trees at the back of my property & they are owned by the most un-cooperative farmer you could ever meet & wouldn't top / prune the trees even for the most polite person on earth. so if you have trees any where arround, check who owns them & if necessary would they trim them if needs must. good luck pal, regards djdave:cool::hiya:
