    And the world of AV!

I had a strict budget, knew what I wanted, tried a few things and took a chance *gulp* on a few others. So my credit card has now melted with the purchase of this lot - yeehaa! :suicide:

Plasma Display - Panasonic TH42PW6B (silver version, with scart, component, and stand)
DVD - Pioneer DV-757Ai (MR but not PAL PS, not yet anyway)
AV Amp - Pioneer AX5i-S (bought un-auditioned, but what the hell!)
Speakers - Mission M53's (floorstanders, centre, rears and sub woohoo!)

Add to that Sky+ (since they have got rid of that £10 monthly fee) being installed next week!!

    Now the wait....

By the way, many thanks to Liam @ AV-Sales for his help and a big :thumbsdow to PRCDirect for being uninterested and unhelpful!

Also, I reckon your signature needs updating becuase that setup could not be classed as crap! ;)

    Well done Planet :D

I have just ordered mine too - same as yours except I didn't get the Component board....

What sort of a stand did you get? I went for the 'rounded' silver job...

I also went for a Quintro switcher as I have a few RGB scart sources.

Do you think that component from DVD to plasma component will be significantly better than RGB scart to Scart terminal board?

How are you going to connect Sky+ for best results?

    Regards GreenBhoy

PS - noticed you were in Wiltshire - I'm in Swindon.....

    Planet,
What lead time did AV-Sales give you on the component board? I've been waiting for one for a couple of weeks now and it seems that Panasonic is sold out of them at the moment...

GreenBhoy- Cheers :) Congrats to you too! I went for the silver circular one too, until I can get round (no pun) to wall mounting it (sunken like!). As far as component vs scart, I didn't see connected via scart but through component, and I was blown away. Connecting something like the 757 through anything less would have been silly, IMHO. I'll compare the two when it arrives!

I only have 2 scart devices (Sky+ soon, and PS2) so wasn't too bothered about switching afterall. The PS2 will go to the scart, and the Sky will go to the VGA port using a syncblaster cable - cheaper than another scart interface with 'hopefully' better results (one of the untested things I mentioned)!

That'll be two plasma's for the Swindon Massive then!;)

Neil - I didn't actually buy it from AV Sales, but Liam helped none-the-less. They don't do the Missions, and couldn't get it all within my tight budget if I went with them. DigitalDirect came up trumps with the complete package, delivered to my door (in a little while). Credit where credit is due!

    Alan

The lead time is next day for us as we've got a pile of BNC component boards in! (you can either get a BNC to Phono cable or use an adaptor)

    Planet

Sorry I have not responded to your email - My sniffout email account has not been working - busted POP3 server

I have updated my profile with my work email address until I can get registered with a new ISP...

I would still like to have a conversation about configurations - I also see that you have posted a new thread re connections - I will have a look.

Anyway - Panny 6 Plasma arrived with Scart & Quintro box, but no stand - I have to wait for that....

    Picture = Awesome :D
I ran some tests and configured it with a specialist DVD :D

    No Dead pixels :D

    Spot on Geometry :D

    Perfect convergence :D

And that was just RGB scart from DVD to Plasma Scart!! I haven't checked Sky as I need to get my Sky box moved (and I may get Sky+ now anyway).

The only think I am slightly worried about is that (to my eyes) the silver Bezel looks ever so slightly warped, like it's got very small dents in it - hard to describe but my wife says she cannot really see them. I don't really want to swap the panel now as I love it so much!!!

Anyway, email me again if you can on the new address, so we can discuss setups - also, you can borrow my DVD calibration disc/filter if you wish...

No prob GreenBhoy, I know the feeling about email failure! It happended to me only a week ago! Lost the lot!

I actually just thought that you're plasma was so good that you spent the weekend watching it! Good to hear that it lived up to your expectations!

Cheers on the loan of a setup disk, I was wondering where I'd get hold of one! So what was the first dvd you watched? LOTR:TT or the setup disk? :D
