What is JL like for getting a refund.I bought a Sony XS1 from them 8 months ago and it has an intermittent fault. The screen occasionally goes blank for a second when watching thru component.Sony are aware of the problem as it appears to be fairly common and say there should be a fix soon(no date). There is a post elsewhere stating the same problem. He had engineers playing with his TV but it wasn't sorted so I am not confident.
I would rather not have engineers swapping bits on my TV 'to see what happens'.I prefer a full refund and spend my hard earned on another TV.

What are my options.Has anyone had a refund from JL,where do I stand.

    Thanks for any help people.

You may be better off starting with Sony themselves. Once you've made a case and an engineer hhas verified you have the problem, they should authorise the refund, JL will then have no case for refusing.
Recently had to to this myself but with Panasonic. It sometimes comes down to who you get through to on their Customer services number.
    Good luck.

    Hi;
Can't answer your question, but just noticed that when viewing the audio and TVs etc, almost everthing has a 5yr guarantee, and the price's are not that bad........

Did you make them aware of the fault within 6 months?

If yes, you have a good chance, if no then they only have to repair or replace.

JL are as yet not aware of the problem,I've been dealing with Sony.A swap is out of the question as it is a fault that is apparent on all XS1 TV's so I believe.
I've noticed JL no longer have the 42" on the website.

Why don't you expalin the situation to JL, perhaps putting it in writing so there can be no confusion and see what they say.

I imagine that JL warranties are like most - that is

    (i) Attempt a repair
(ii) If a repair isn't possible or beyond econmical value then replace with an identical model
(iii) If that model is no longer available then offer an alternative upto the original purchase price

Since you say that the fault is evident on all TVs of that model then you will eventually end up at (iii).

What you need to do is to convince JL that they are going to end up at (iii) anyway so they may aswell do it straight away to avoid wasted time and money.

I doubt they will give a cash refund. If you really want this you would have to argue that none of the alternatives in (iii) are acceptable but that may be a hard slog.

    Cheers,

    Nigel

As you have never told them about the problem they only have to do as Nigel said above and offer i, ii or iii.
If you had told them straight away you would have been entitled to a refund.

But there are loads of new screens about to arrive so plenty of options.

I'll see what we can do,was hoping to video a couple of laps but I couldn't get a decent tank mount in time so you will have to take my word that I will be doing 175mph on the straights-oh yes.

By the the way If I don't post by next weekend the Cyril has not made it back but he would have been smiling big time :D .
