Many of us have hd success with John Lewis who pricematch and give a 5 year warranty with their TVs etc.

Is there a definitive list of online / high street shops they have stockmatched with?

I got the Bluewater branch to do electrocentre.com on a Sony 32FX66. But Newcastle refused to even consider it.

    Anyone else got any successes?

JL Newcastle won't pricematch with online-only retailers.

I agree about the online only retailers, but there are many very cheap online shops with high street shops, such as electrocentre.

It is often hard to tell whether an web site has a store, so the question was who has had success with which stores....

    this old chestnut again.....here goes....

To be succesful in getting JL to pricematch follow my guide:

Email the company you want to pricematch against (Techtronics, PantherOnline, Electrocentre, Premier AV etc....there are quite a few). Make sure its a reseller that details a shop on their website.

In the email, ask the shop to confirm the following in their reply...

    1. They have a shop.
    2. They have the tv in stock.
    3. They will deliver to your area.
    4. Price £££ inc. vat

Then, go to John Lewis with this email and a printout from the
aforementioned websites of the television and store details. Pass to the kind person on the Customer Service desk.

There are NO distance limitation as mentioned on some posts.

I live in Falkirk, and I got JL Edinburgh to pricematch Techtronics on a 36fs76 for £1424 and thats including delivery, and more importantly 5 year warranty.

Follow this guide and you WON'T fail....

I was being specific to the Newcastle branch for Teessider. The undersales dept there will actually call the shop you want to price match.

They do. They will often go to the shop in person, too.

    Cheers,

Thanks guys, going to the undersales department direct seems to be the key as in the past I've gone to the AV department direct.

this is true, all pricematching does have to go through to the undersales dept, this is where it becomes tricky.... when I initially tried to pricematch they came back saying that they had phoned the companies I was trying to pricematch against. One said that they would not deliver to Scotland, and the other suddenly changed there price as soon as they got a call from JL undersales.

This is why you have to follow my guide, this will be relevant to all JL stores in the UK. If you have these quotes in writing to yourself, then JL cannot dispute the price.

    Best of luck.

If any of you have Barclaycards - just buy with that! They will pricematch online prices as well and the guaranties don't have to be the same! I saved £400 on my Sony 36" widescreen. Bought from local retailer with 5 year guaranty and pricematched against Unbeatable.co.uk.

John Lewis (BlueWater) just priced matched my Loewe Aconda, £1629 delivered with 5yrs warranty.

The price match did have to go through the under sales Dept, they rang me a couple of days later to confirm and then sent a letter.

    Not bad.

    Right....

Just ordered the FQ70 from John Lewis...
Price matched digital-point at £943 including the 5 year warranty.
Note - Online price is £915 delivered, but the shop price was 899 + 45 delivery.

    And now the weird stuff....

The lady who did the match in the Undersales department asked if my name was Teessider coz she reads this forum and had seen this post, even rang me back with details after the store lost all power and asked for Teessider - very surreal experience.

I must say she was excellent and a credit to the company - btw your name isn't on the answering machine message.

Delivery a week Tuesday which is great coz I'm away on the bank holiday.

Following comments from a number of people I decided to go for a Loewe Articos.
Could people that have bought this TV please provide some info, where they bought their set from and fow how much?
This is a damn expensive model and would like to save whatever I can.
Also any alternative stands to the extremely expensive but also beatiful systems cube 1 or 2? I would prefere a glass based stand.
