I was introduced to Jet Li in Leathal Weapon 4. I thought he was awesome. Next, I saw Romeo must die. Then The One. I just bought Fist of Legend and thought it was great. The fight scenes are breathtaking. It is the first Hong Kong Jet Li movie I've seen. Most people say FOL is his best work. Can anyone recommend any others?

Avoid The Hitman though. There was a serious lack of action IMO.

I agree with all the above. Generally I keep away from any dubbed American films such as Black Mask.

Try some Jackie Chan too, Project A 1 & 2, Who Am I?, and Dragon's Forever are all great.

Can someone list their top 3 Jet Li movies in order. My research suggets:

    1. Once upon a time in China
    2. Once upon a time in China 2
    3. Fist of Legend

I tend not to like period pieces such as OUATIC thus haven't seen it yet.

Yay, I've just bought it on DVD but don't have a player yet, so I can't wait to see it. Have you seen DM2? Jackie's real-life bodyguard is in it and what he does with his legs can only be described as wrong. Legs just aren't meant to bend that way!

Me too, then prolly Once Upon a time in China, then the Legend of Fung Sai Yuk (loved the 'not allowed touch the ground' fight).

Are you talking about the proper DM2 or the inferior non-Jackie Chan one. The official Jackie Chan sequel is meant to be one of his greatest films. It is not available in Region 2.

Did you get the Hong Kong Classics version of DM? That's the one I have, transfer is OK but unfortunately there is no cantonese soundtrack. And the dubbing is atrocious. But the film is great!

I can also say that The One is not a great film but ok ,

What about the Jet Li film Dr Wai has some Good fighting
The fight sence with the sumos is great ,

I think the best Jet li films are the ones before he hit the big lights of the USA ,

    What about you lot

I agree, the Yanks think all you need to do is throw one of the worlds best martial artists around in a wire harness and the film'll be a hit. Worse still, they don't seem to be capable of letting the guy fight without CGI assistance.

Personally I think he's never topped Fist Of Legend.

I agree. Pre-USA he was actually doing some decent kung-fu fight scenes. His recent films don't let him do this as if doubting his ability and so have to use CGI. What a waste:mad:

Aah, no Cantonese? Crap, I so much prefer subtitles, their much funnier. That's a real shame. Yea I was talking about the official DM2. The baddie in it (fairly sure it's his bodyguard) lifts his leg, keeps his knee in one position while hopping across the floor all the while moving everything below his knee left and right very fast. It's mad.

Also I'm fairly sure my friend showed it to me on DVD and he has a Sony player and know's nothing about multi-region hacking. Therefore it must have been region 2. I seem to remember him saying something about hkflix.com, although this is a vague memory. I'll get on to him about it and post here, or open a new thread...

Hkflix is a US based supplier that specialises in disc imported from Hong Kong (like Poker Industries aswell). Most discs of HK films aren't actually region coded so your mate wouldn't have any probs playing them anyway. It's actually cheaper to import it yourself from somewhere like www.dddhouse.com as 1 UK £ is equal to around 11 HK dollars and everything costs next to nothing anyway.

Closer to 12 HK dollars. Which means that you can pick up titles for around a tenner including delivery.

You can get Dr. Wai for about £5.80!

DDDhouse are excellent. (Even get a proper parcel with some string around it!)

What I would say though is to only order a max of 2 discs at a time.
One time I got carried away & ordered 5 & got stung by customs/post office.
I know this would apply for ordering abroad anyway, but with DDD, you could actually order, say 4 DVDs & it would actually be under the £18 cutoms theshold. They see a parcel with 4 dvds in it & charge you anyway.

'Fong Sai Yuk' & 'Tai Chi Master' (with Michelle Yeoh) are both excellent 'older' Jet movies.
