Does anybody know if they are still doing this? I'm going to buy a camera in the next week and would like to get it locally, but it's £40 cheaper on the net.

    Cheers

You can only go in to a store and ask,or ring them up.

They will price match if you give them the details of the lower price (ie print the web page) - but remember to include any cost of delivery etc.

    Worth it though - I saved over £60 on a Canon A70 :)

2 things to make sure of before you try.
-The net dealer must be selling UK stock
-They must have the camera in stock.

Price match acceptance varies from store to store at Jessops in my opinion - all stores should do it as per company policy however some are more reluctant than others - one store manager a few months ago actually privately told me to get the camcorder I was interested in matched !!

Regardless they are a solid company and I would rather buy from them rather than some here today gone tomorrow internet seller (no disrespect meant here)

I can let you know that already, there's nothing really to play with. It's a Sony DSC-U20.

It's not a technologically fantastic camera (2mp, no zoom) other than in size.

I bought it because of the size and speed of it. I regularly recommend camera purchases at work (a college) and have seen lots and know what to look for, but personally I just wanted something to cart around everywhere to get pics all the time.

I already have 2 cameras, an Zenit SLR and a Nikon APS, which are both very good but because of bulk and the need for films, they do not get used other than for specific events, holidays/shows etc.

The Sony though, is small and sturdy (it passed the squeeze / creak test easily) enough to be carried in a pocket everywhere for snaps of everything. It only weighs just over 100g fully loaded.

The picture quality is very good considering the resolution and size of the camera, and is supposedly good enough for prints up to 6x4, but to be honest, if i want prints, i'll use a film camera.

It also uses standard AAA batteries, so if i run out wile out, any shop will do.

For what it is, it's superb and for £160, a bargain.

Got Jessops today to price match on a Panasonic NVGS70 camcorder (3CCD). They did it without a hitch for £760 - normal retail £1000. The branch had only one in stock. For a 3CCD it's tiny !

I will be playing with it tonight :D :D :D

It worked for me. I saved £50. I told them I had seen the same digital camera for £50 less on the net and the manager said he would match the price. Didn't have to provide proof or anything. It was late on Saturday afternoon though so maybe he needed to improve his sales for the week.

    Good Luck

Because there are still the mugs out there that don't know any better and will pay the price they see on the tag.

I proved this the other day. There was a guy in my Jessops who was considering a Powershot A70.

I pulled him to once side (I know the staff quite well in there) and mentioned the pricematch, gave him a print off a website and told him to try.

He came back to me a few minutes later, said thanks and said that I had just saved him 70 quid. He was gonna buy it at full price until I showed him.

    Does this make sense???
