Following some good advice I got from this forum I have just been to Jessops yesterday and got a Panasonic GX7B.
It was in the window priced at £899.95
I took a print out of a web page www.empire-direct.co.uk
which priced the GX7 at £685.
Jessops phoned the website to confirm it's availability and price and although they would not match the price I got it for a reasonable £727.00
Thanks to all you guys I saved almost £175.
PS they won't match grey imports !!

I tried price matching with jessops for a panasonic MX8, empire direct had them for £799. Jessops wanted over £1000 and would only come down to about £950. So i bought it from empire direct. :D

I suppose it may depend on various things,( availability/minimum profit margins/ etc.) but the peace of mind for me knowing that I had a shop I could walk into if anything went wrong with the product was worth the extra £50.

That is what i wanted aswell, just incase anything was wrong with the camcorder. I wasn't sure of empire direct because i had never bought anything of that value over the phone before. Thankfully the camcorder turned up the next day.

Well if you guys paid by BarclaryCard then they too have a price match promise, find the same product you purchased with your card cheaper elsewhere including the internet and BarclayCard will refund you the difference. The only rule for the internet is the price match price must include P+P charges.

I had no probs getting a fantastic deal on the Fuji S602 Zoom Digital Camera from Jessops. Got a great bundle by price matching with ads in What Digital Camera :)

Jessops just agreed to a price-match on the JVC DVX507 for me - they had it at £700, but didn't quibble for a second in matching the £550 offered at www.askdirect.co.uk.

This was all part of an insurance replacement - the insurer's gave me £550 in Jessop's vouchers to get a model about four steps down from the 507, but with the price-match I get this tiny little beauty!

Mind, it took them half an hour to serve me because they were so busy, but I'm not going to complain...
