Both are pretty naff films tbh, both start out quite promising then rapidly go down hill from there. That said 2 did make me laugh in places (I know it wasn't meant to) so my vote goes for that, if I'm forced that is with a gun against my head

I thought 1 was ok, it was freaky and you didnt really know what was going on so there was suspense holding it up......in 2, you knew exactly what had happended, what was happening and what was going to happen...... not my idea of a good film

Watch the first half of the first one, once you see the creature knock it off!!!!
The tension is excellent in the first half but once the creature is seen it ruined the atmosphere for me.

    Cheers.

i think i was expecting too much of the first one as i had read that the first 10 minutes was supposed to make you sick with fear but i really enjoyed the second so the 2nd one gets my vote

The 1st one was far superior. it had some nerve tingling moments although the ending was poor
whereas the 2nd one was awful.

The first one makes me laugh after the first half hour - especially the terribly acted (mouth open, eyes widened) horrified expression on the guys face all the way through the film.

I thought the first 40 minutes of the first film was the most promising horror sequence I've seen in years, once you get to see the creature it spoils it. Unfortunately Victor Salva seemed to prefer the monster movie bits and only created the first half due to a lack of an fx budget.
Then he went and copied the second half for the sequel which was pretty awful.
