    Wow,
    Just noticed this, sounds cool..

On 10 October 2004, Jean Michel Jarre will open the 'Year of France' in China with a large concert in the Forbidden City in Beijing, China.

Being broadcast live by HD1 at 13:00 CET. Now if only I had a means of recording Euro1080 output!

    Cheers,
    Andy.

Way cool! I haven't listened to JMJ in ages, but I liked him back in the '80s. Even back then his gigs were quite spectacular.

Let's hope it actually gets aired though; HD-1's schedules haven't been very reliable so far. And they'd better broadcast it in Dolby Digital 5.1! ;)

I will definitely record it as well.

the good news is that the gig is now showing on HD1 program grid. I had a feeling they may have only meant it was showing on HDe, you know how things haven't always gone as planned for Euro1080..
Anyway, looking good for next Sunday :)

lol, what you mean like Head of Programming suddenly realising the show is for HDe only, but some work experience chap posted it on the program grid instead :suicide:

HD1 showed a trailer for the Jean Michelle Jarre concert this evening so it is looking good. Abstrakt I think the feed on HDe is at a much higher bit rate.

True -- and that would mean the original feed I was referring to would have as high a bitrate as HDe, if not higher! Not to mention that it wouldn’t have any ugly “HD1” or “HDe” bugs in the corner of the screen. :)

I’m willing to bet that this raw, high def feed from China will be free-to-air. Unfortunately I won’t have much time to hunt for it, but I’ll still try scanning a few satellites around 15 minutes before the gig’s start time.

    Cheers.

Sign up for a dedicated Newsgroup Service like Usenetserver or Newshosting (amongst others).

So far it's been awful, audio and visual dropouts every few seconds.. not enjoying it when it's like this..very disappointing

Yes! I thought it was just me and was pulling my hair out. There's a Dolby Digital 5.1 track, too... but the show is unwatchable this way. :(

Yes Andy, It started with video and audio out of sync and then got worse. I am getting the MPeg audio track at the moment, AC3 is gone for the moment. Hope they will start again from the begining.

The gig is allegedly live, so it's going to be hard to restart from the beginning. And if the problem is with the original feed from China I'm guessing they won't be able to repeat it at a later date, since they wouldn’t have a good copy. We might have to wait until they get a tape of the event shipped to them before we can see it properly, if at all.

sigh. This is Europe after all -- who did we think we were kidding? We should probably just be thankful for color TV and stereo sound, and leave this high def business to more professional folks elsewhere in the world. :(

wonder if they're having the same problems on HDe in the event cinemas? I'd be really ****** off if I'd paid good money to see it!
I've given up on it now, can't enjoy it in this state.. wonder who we can moan to for what it's worth?

    Cheers

Oh, and I don't think it's the feed from China as I was having audio dropouts before the gig as well

You were getting dropouts on the other programs aired this morning/afternoon? I didn't tune in until the start time so I hadn't noticed this...

That would mean there is some hope of catching it again one of these days, once Alfacam fixes the problem with its playout system. But my opinion of the company has just gone down several notches because of this.

Here's the feed, thanks to uknetfreak on Feedhunters:
    5 West, 11506v, 20350, 2/3

I'm watching it now and noticed a few dropouts here too, but it seems to have stabilized now. The bitrate is 22.5 Mbps. Too bad we didn’t find out about this earlier.

I can't move my dish unfortunately (it's a torroidal dish, all I can get is 28E, 19E and 13E). Just have to hope HD1 repeats it and there are no problems with the repeats that's all...

    Cheers,
    Andy.

it is really gutting, cos when it's working fine it's absolutely lush sound and picture. I'm gonna stick with it and hope it sorts itself out for remaining hour or so.
I really hope they show a faultess version in the near future.
