Can anyone explain why my Pure Oasis in our kitchen picked up this station with no problem on monday evening, and is now loaded into the presets. Yet my Pure Chronos, no more than 30feet away in the bedroom does not even registar JazzFM on the EPG?
:lease:

Don't know, but try adding channels with the set in the best possible place for reception and then moving it to its intended spot.

JassFM only just got turned back on the other day - if its not in your station list then run an autotune and see if it gets picked up.

Somewhat off-topic, but the return of JazzFM to the airwaves has made my year! It's great to see that my all-time favourite DJ, the one and only Robbie "It it moves...funk it!" Vincent, is also on the schedule at the weekends.

Me to Crumbs, also waiting with baited breath for the return of Mike Chadwick, tonight and I think sunday at 11.00pm:smashin:

I shall try and have a listen to Mike Chadwick too as I haven't heard him before.

I only found JazzFM this morning by accident! I was retuning from another station to LBC when I passed JazzFM. I was almost in total shock and quickly tuned to JazzFM where I caught (ex-LBC presenter) David Prever doing the breakfast show.

Much of my music collection is based on the early days of the JazzFM playlists and I have accumulated hundreds of CDs and almost the entire library of the JazzFM label (plus Hed Kandi). In recent years i've been trying to find a radio station with similar output but have searched in vain. Now that JazzFM is back it'll give me a chance to expand my music collection.

You can sign up for email alerts on the jazzfm.com website if you're a big fan of the station, by the way. I really hope they start doing a podcast service soon.

I think the man is a musical genius! I used to listen to him for years til the "Old" Jazzfm unceremoniously dumped him. I'm glad he's back. Here's a link to his site and what he says..Mike Chadwick

Wow! I've had almost every possible source tuned in to JazzFM 24 hours a day for the last few days. What a tremendous radio station it is and it is just wonderful that JazzFM is back on the (digitial) airwaves. It takes me back two decades and I heard the legend that is Robbie Vincent today. Awesome!

Anyway, technically, DAB provides the worst sound. It sounds very compressed and lifeless. Online is very good with what appears to be a wider dynamic range and more depth to the sound. The output from Sky provides the best sound for JazzFM in my experience. It's a relaxed sound with good stereo imagery and a decent depth so you can almost place different instruments and vocals across the soundstage. The only source I haven't tried yet is Freeview.

I would imagine that FM would have blown all of these modern digital sources out of the water for sound quality and it's a great shame that JazzFM is not on FM. Other than that, a big thumbs up for the return of JazzFM.

Jazz FM isn't on Freeview.

It is on Freesat, which will only cost you £50 plus the cost of someone installing a dish for you.

There are no more spare FM frequencies for the London area. As the legislation currently stands Classic FM's 100-102FM licence will be auctioned off to the highest bidder in 2011 (although Classic's owners Global Radio are lobbying the Government to change it) so if it goes ahead anyone could win that. Maybe Jazz FM will bid for it.
