Hi All,

I have a Late 2011 17" UMBP with 16GB of RAM running Lion 10.7.5 and usually my temperatures range around 40-45 degrees but can go up to 50-55 degrees if I have a lot of tabs open in Safari, watch online video content etc.

I kept getting a message to update Java which I finally did this evening via the Java website to version "Java 7 - Update 51".

Soon after, I noticed that my temps shoot up to around 80 degrees for no reason. I tried a number of restarts & even with no apps running, the temps jump between 65-70 degrees. If I run any apps - say my usual Mail & Safari), the temps go up even further. I have noticed the laptop now gets a few beach balls & has some lag.

Everything was fine before I did this update - so can anyone please kindly help me rectify this or even if it is possible for me go back to the previous version of Java that was installed?

Could it be anything else that might be causing this & if so, can someone help me identify what?

Many Thanks,
Suave!
