My own stupid fault, Java update, installed Java. then I should have unticked the "install Ask ... blah blah ... tool bar and default search engine".

How do I undo this? I have managed to remove the Ask toolbar from Chrome, but the search in Chrome defaults to Ask... I didn't ask for Ask, I was coerced in to it , its a bad day for a company when you need to be tricked into installing their useless search engine, tool bar and even virus checkers

You can go into your Chrome settings and change the default search engine back to google.

I have similar because I use AVG antivirus it changes my default search to AVG Search.

It's bad when just a simple update becomes such a problem.

    Hope it helps.

    Carl.

How many times do we all do that.

We look and can't find it. Look again and it miraculously appears.

I seem to spend my life doing it.

Despite my best intentions while installing two new computers for my kids, one of them ended up on the 30 day trial of AVG, not the free one I intended to install... :(

I think it just defaults to the free version if you go past 30 days / use a naughty serial.

At the end you either have to buy it or find the "we've hidden it in the hope you don't find it", option to go for the free version. I'm just embarrassed that despite going from the free version page, it still distracted me long enough to install the trial. :D That and it reminds us every 2 days how long we have left on the trial and do we want to buy it yet :suicide:

I installed something the other day that had the option of 'no, don't install all this bloatware' greyed out and I was like 'qua?' And then, if you moused over it and then clicked it, it magically ungreyed itself.

    sneaky mc sneakerson.
