Coming into my work building, and walking past the lifts, i saw the following:

3 Japenese blokes waiting for the lift.....
A young, 20-ish man in front of the lift, and an older man on each side, all dressed in suits, etc.
The lift arrives, and they're all saying, "please, after you" and bowing to each other. The young guy is having on none of it, and insist that an older guy enters the lift first.
Anyway, they spend so long arguing, that the lift closes its doors, and they all jump between the doors to stop it leaving!

I haven't seen anything so funny in all my life!

Or in the pub with your mates, 'it's my round' 'no it's my round'. Carlsberg don't make mates but if they did....

When I worked for a japanese company the head of our dealing room had a visit from his "equal" from tokyo, apparently (this may or may not be true but it seemed to be the case) the lower you bow the more respectful you are being. So when greeting your boss you would be expected to bow lower than he does.

Anyway.. as they were of equal superiority there seemed to be some confusion!.. the bowing went back and forth and back and forth.. getting lower and lower and faster and faster each one checking to see the others response. I was sitting quite close and had a hell of a time stiffle-ing (spelling?) my laughter :rotfl:
