Wow i just checked the bitrate of the DTS track on my Japanese edition of Cutthroat Island and it said 1536kbs thats a fullbitrate track for a film which runs 123minutes, the film also has a Dolby 5.1 track on it soooooo why are american titles especially Superbit from Columbia only half bitrate DTS ?

Are more recent Japanese releases only Half Bitrate ?

I just don't understand why film companies cannot release full bitrate DTS on disc, the edition of Cutthroat Island i have looks amazing and if they can fit a full bitrate on that and it came out 3 years ago with the better encoding available today surely they can fit all films under 2 hours with a full bitrate DTS track and a Dolby 5.1 track, extras could go on disc 2 and id happily live without a commentary track.

Some Jpn titles are some are not :

    The Transporter
    The Sixth Day
    Total Recall
    Harts War
    Maybe Sum of all Fears
    Armageddon
    Hard Rain
    Blade

These have full bit rate tracks..from what I can remember.. not sure yet whether the Superbit releases over there do.

    Cheers

    Matt
