Just bought the January Software Upgrade to add the new apps to my Ipod touch, followed the instructions, updated to firmware 1.1.3 and synced my ipod, the apps are then supposed to be available but nothing has appeared, has anyone else bought the apps, did they work?

go to the device in iTunes and click on the 'check for updates' button. will then download the 165mb of 1.1.3 update and when applied it should recognize you have paid for the apps. I did the same as you and followed the instructions which did not work

I've already updated to 1.1.3, when I check for updates now it says I have the current version. I've googled the problem and other people are having the same problem when manage music and videos is ticked, they are having to restore their Ipod then the apps appear, trouble is they loose everything on their Ipod, there has to be another way.

Quite a few people have had problems apparently such as being charged several times. I think if you do everything in the right order it's fine (I think)? I did mine by:

    1) Updated iTunes to latest version, then
    2) Updated Touch software to latest version, then
    3) Bought the upgrade, then
    4) Clicked on the iPod in iTunes and clicked 'Synch' - the new apps appeared next time i used it.

My iPod is not on manual mode but i know some people who do have it on manual mode and the update worked fine so i dunno

I got an e-mail back from Apple Last night and I had to uncheck manually manage music and video in the summary tab and then synch, it meant I lost all my songs and Video on the touch but at least the apps work now, bit of a crap way around it really, time to put all my music back on :thumbsdow

Heres the link Apple sent me about installing the software updates :-

I have been charged twice for the software - if I do this procedure on the other halfs touch will it still install, I really don't fancy paying for it again...

    Cheers,

How come we have to pay for this anyway?! I've never paid for an ipod update before! Have I missed something?!

Is there a chance this will become free before long, or is there even a need to get it?! Will the ipod still work fine without it!? I cant believe we're being charged!

Just paid, DLed and installed onto my touch. Working fine, but its wrong that they are charging £12.99 for it.

I used quidco so maybe I can get the 8% discount !

I have all the ticks for synchronization and it worked perfectly for me in dummy proof mode.
I went to their webpage and selected purchased
Complained about the latest iTunes version - Upgraded
Complained about the latest firmeware - upgraded
Purchased - unplugged and plugged and synced

    Everything worked fine

Set up POP client and weather location: no probs
Played around with Google maps: No problem

    I'm happy
