    1 down 11 to go!!

Well done to all who have entered

Thumbnail page is HERE to quickly check you haven't missed any entries

As always a huge thank you to our sponsors for the prizes on offer HERE:hiya:

The closing date for votes will be shown at the top of the poll and don't forget that all votes are public so no voting for yourself :nono:

Also if you have entered a picture then you are expected to vote, else all votes accrued by you will be disallowed :lesson:

    Important
The last forums update now allows guests to also vote and obviously this doesn't log a user name against the vote.
For any other poll this wouldn't be an issue but as we don't allow forum members to vote for themselves in the competition then I'm having to treat the fact that guests can vote a little differently!
Therefore can I ask that if you are already a member of AVF to please log in before voting, to those who lurk on the forums and wish to vote then please feel free to register before voting, registration is free and you'll be joining an invaluable and fantastic community.

To that end, any instances of guest voting will be discounted, sorry.

Has to be gpa for me with his superb tree shot. Love the contrast of the bark and foliage and the excellent composition, well done.

Also have to mention psenior1 for a lovely crispy image, tontohorse for the dreamy scene, iandrews for an incredible shot that proves it's the photographer not the camera, habanero for the great idea and of course electrolyte for sheer effort.

Well done all, a tough month to vote on.

Didn't get an entry in this month :( It's a bit weird, as it was my theme selected, I kind of lost the motivation to get an entry in...

Also, I normally comment on every entry each month, but for various reasons , I haven't this month, so apologies, as there are some great entries this time around..

As I say, some great entries, so well done to all those who entered :smashin:

For me it came down to:

iandrews - bang on theme, and a cracking effort that, as said, proves the photographer makes the shot.

vsenior1\D80Girl (I assume there's been a name change somewhere) Can't get much more contrasty than that..

gpa - such a lovely photo.

vulkan75 - again, a great photo in it's own right, but also has so many elements to make it on theme.

netronelson - Also loads of contrasts on this one, and well taken.

In the end, I went for netronelson's avocado , but it was (as usual) tough to pick just one winner.

Another great set of entries this month but there was only one shot for me. That is iandrew's shadows shot. Just goes to show that the photographer, composition, lighting and the subject is much more important than the camera and lens.

A really varied mix of entries this month. A difficult choice found me finally going for psenior1 , which could quite easily find itself in a foodie magazine.

Very hard choice, some excellent shots.

A dilemna between GPA whose tree is brilliant and Paranormalist whose shot is just so evocative and has contrasts all over it - a close shave but the creepy door got it.

    Well done everyone

Have I missed something? There seems to be a double entry or at least the same pic attributed to 2 people? I can see the zebra twice VSenior and D80girl. Anyone else?

Have to go with iandrews, I think any of us would be happy to have taken that with a DSLR let alone a 2 megapixel Iphone (which is a superb bit of kit by the way).

Must also give honoureable mentions to Netronelson for his superb Avacado and Tonto's late entry is superb as well.

As one old gentleman once said "You've all done very well" as he is pushed into the lift in his wheelchair by his scantily clad nurse

    Special mention to:

Mr Pleasant and gpa - Both lovely shots of frosty trees.

vulkan75 and tontoshorse - Both great landscape shots.

electrolyte - Good funny idea, and well put together.

But in the end I went for Mr Pleasant. Very hard to decide between him and gpa, but he posted his tree first and I like the extra details of the trees and fence in the background.

    Ian.

Can't believe I didn't get an entry in! Well done to all that did!

Anyway - this was my shortlist...
gpa - Great shot - composition is spot-on and is what lifts it ever-so-slightly above Mr Pleasant's entry. Love the feel of those few days we had like that. Unfortunately it was crunch time at work and I didn't manage to leave the house :(

iandrews Fantastically simple yet so effective. it leaps off the thumbnail page for it's striking lines.

Biscuit761 I think I stared at this one longer than any other this month. So many captivating details. Fantastic exposure.

Paranormalist Great find and well composed/framed. Love the varying contrasts in this one.

I keep changing my mind as usual, but I'm just about to hit the button for Biscuit761. Well done Bill!

I went for Habanero for the best interpretation of the theme - I think it's the only one that you could probably guess the theme from without any description, title or any other hints.

Alos really like netronelson's entry, and iandrews and D80girl.

Well done everyone, and about the 4th month in a row where I just have no inspiration...

Habenero for me too. cause it was a great interpretation of the theme...

Close runners up for me were NetroNelson, iandrews, Psenior, Monkeyleader, biscuit761, Butch and Electrolye and DaveW.

Thats a lot of close runners up. :smashin:

Well done to everyone who entered and bring on February.

Hard to choose between Habanero (love the simple idea executed well) and Monkeyleader (colour selection is excellent) and iandrews (great capture regardless of the camera, well spotted and bang on theme)....

    ...Went for iandrews.

Blimey! toughest decision where to put the vote this month, so many great photos each with their own spin on the theme, which proved excellent...

    here's my shortlist:

MrPleasant & GPA - both excellent, eerie, cold, they make you hold your breath...

Dave W - really good idea, well executed, bang on theme.

Paranormalist - fantastic composure and exposure, a hypnotic photo, definately your best to date in my opinion.

iandrews - really great spot and capture, echoing what everyone else has already said too.

gosh - not a shortlist really, i want to include more!

But, my vote is going to go to Paranormalist - I really love the photo, and I think it's also great to show how your eye and technical abilites are growing.

    On to next month!

    Nelson.

ps - And thanks for my votes and mentions too! it's nice to be up there in everyones thoughts... :)

iandrews for me. Simple and effective. A close second was Mr Pleasant whose photo I would have voted for it it was a bit more contrasty easily achieved with a levels tweak.

Completely forgot about the comp myself this month what with all the board re-arranging etc, so I'll have to get my finger out for next month.

as usual some fine shots in the competition. I went for psenior1's entry as it was thoughtful, well done and didn't go for the obvious monochrome treatment.
