Danish audio manufacturers, Jamo, has launched their S 426HCS3 5.0 surround sound package, aimed at those on a tightish budget.

Jamo believes this floorstander-based system outperforms every competitor in its price range - we'd expect them to say no less! Despite the fact it's a 5.0 system, Jamo believe the package offers a coherent and musical' sound quality rarely heard from similar speaker packages.

The Jamo S 426 floorstanders boast dual 140mm/5.5in woofers in a reflex-ported enclosure, together with a low-resonance 25mm/1in soft dome tweeter that features a Jamo Waveguide. Partner with the slimline S 420 centre and S 420 surround speakers – designed to be unobtrusive and easy to accommodate - and you have a 5.1 system ready to go. Both the centre and surround speakers come with integral wall brackets to aid placement..

The Jamo S 426HCS3 5.0 surround sound system has a suggested retail price of £299.99 and is available online and from Jamo retailers across the UK.

If that wasn't enough, Jamo have also given us details of their new Sub that also retails at the £299.99 price point in the Jamo SUB 260, presumably intended to compliment the S 426 package.

It's available in dark apple or black ash and equipped with a long-throw 8in woofer housed in a slotted-port cabinet. Jamo say the amplifier is capable of 260W of peak power. The 8in driver uses a very rigid cone made of composite materials with a large motor structure featuring a well ventilated pole-piece, that's intended to help cooling of the the voice-coil.

Small correction - the S 426HCS3 is a 5.0 system consisting of the speakers pictured, the SUB 260 being a good addition to create a 5.1 system.
