    HI.
I have a Jamo DVR50 which is basically a KiSS DP-470 (which in turn is a KiSS DP-450 slightly modified).

Anyway, after succesfully multiregioning it, I cannot select PAL progressive out without interference lines coming on the picture. This only happens with macrovision enabled discs (i.e superbit discs NOT affected). Also, the 720p signal loses its sync with normal discs (again, no problem with superbits) so nothing gets shown on this setting .

So, I need to be able to disable the macrovision. The Firmware is the latest Jamo FW 2.7.6.
Other KiSS models have a handset hack just for macrovision.
Is there a handset hack or firmware upgrade for the dP450/470 (or specifically for the Jamo DVR50) that does this?

    Thanx 4 any help

Thanx Flimber, but I've tried this, it converts the drive to RPC-2 and allows multiregion but doesn't disable the macrovision which is specifically what I need.

IIRC, something under the Kiss section there sorts out macrovision (?). Have you contacted Kiss/Jamo ?

Update: jamo are no help saying they have to abide by dvd forum regulations and cannot release a non macrovision player (but they have no qualms releasing a multiregion one?...eh?).
    KiSS haven't bothered replying.....
    Still waiting...

Jamo replied and said they're "not allowed" to disable macrovision (evne thoguh their plaYERS are multiregion disabled via hidden menu!!!!!!)

Anyway, Jamo are no help. KiSS still hasn't replied yet.

I've tried the KiSS DP-500/508 update to fw 2.8.3 but this doesn't work.
Neither does the DP450 fw 2.8.0 or 2.5.1 (meant to be macrovision disabled).
So I think I specifically need dp470 software (as jamo won't release dvr50 fw that's macro disabled).
Can't find a KiSS forum anywhere....

Track down some other owners (any AV Forums/Usenet) and hound people gently to see if they're having the same issues, or if their firmware is m/v disabled. There may well be an earlier firmware version with no macrovision too, with only later ones passing it through. Perhaps another owner has it in their machine ? Or Jamo themselves ? Have they an ftp site ? Ransack it ! :) Query vendors too ! Find one 'in the know'.

    Mike.

Thanks BB. That's the one I was thinking of. Hacked firmwares available there.

    Thanx guys:smashin:

Tried the above forum...guess what, no dp-470 firmware (as i mentioned, dp-450 or any other fw's don't work)

Not many people with the jamo dvr50

Guess I'll have to gently hound them them ;)

    thanx for your help.
