Anyone looking for a male version of Diana Krall should check out Jamie Cullum's 'pointless nostalgic' CD

It's a nice mix of classic jazz / swing vocals with some nice tunes

The lads just signed a £1million deal with Universal so he's doing something right.

Number #1 in the Amazon chart on the back of an appearance on Parkinson.

Noticed he's covered Radiohead's High And Dry which I'd be interested to hear...

When since was Jamie Cullum a jazz singer?

    He cannot even play piano!

Maybe an embarrasment to jazz to say the least!

Check out your local jazz clubs, you would likely find a dozen or so that he couldnt even tie their shoe laces!

Jamie is in the limelight because of who he knows, there is a thousand Jamie Cullums in every town in the entire world.

    Welcome to the Forums mate.:smashin:

Start as you mean to go on. I love jazz but not Jamie. Your qoute reminds me of a film I saw years ago with Gerry Marsden when someone said how talented he was. The response "There's a million Gerry Marsdens."

More of a jizz slinger than a jazz singer
    - just a pretty boy pop celeb championed by Parky isn't he?

Same category as Katie Melua, just without the Wombles bloke.

Well, a bit like Brian S, I love my jazz.

I guess I would put Jamie Cullum in the same category as the blues/pop guy John Mayer.
He is massive in the US, but is not as great a guitarist as he is feted to be. And I am sure he knows it. But he has jammed with John Scofield; McLaughlin was going to jam with him at the last Clapton druggy charity he did, but it fell through.
So don't knock Cullum - he is just a guy being successful at what he does.
He is a good looking guy who can improvise a bit on the piano; nice voice. Interviews well. I know he's not Chick Corea, but I have heard him on the piano and thought; well, that's a bit adventurous for prime time tv.
I got into jazz slowly; if only one person can go from Cullum to Keith Jarrett, that will be a good thing.
