    To be honest I only really know him from The Shawshank Redemption but he was fantastic in that role. Really Really moving.

    tragic loss about james whitmore.. he's part in shawshank redemption was very memorable.

    but he didnt play jeff goldnblums dad in independence day..

    that actors name was judd hirch. ;)

    Two that come to mind for me was a cop in The Invaders and one of the Magnificent Seven films. One of theose acters that been in everything, great support actor.

    A great, dependable actor who made an impression in most things he appeared in.

    My fondest (and earliest) memory of him will always be the policeman in 'Them!'.

    :suicide:How did I forget, for me he stole the lead. Of all the B movie films it is classed as one of the best and is the top giant creature feature.
