James Drury (The Virginian)

James Drury actor has died age 85 of natural causes.
James in the long running The Virginian as the main character although the stories would rotate round the other cast members I always enjoyed them best when James character was the focus of the story who was the foreman of the Shiloh ranch which had a number of owners. James's character was never named.
The series was shown on the BBC on Friday evening and was an hour and a half long running for 9 seasons changing its name for the last one called The Men from Shiloh. The theme from the show was extremely popular and the program even turned up in a comedy Me Mammy when the main characters mother said something like: why don't you be a nice boy like that cowboy on TV Virgin Ian.
Apart from The Virginian James was not prolific but notably turned up in Alias Smith and Jones as there friend who knew about there amnesty if the could go clean until the governor thought it was fit he played Sheriff Lom Trevors.
