James Bond Collection 40 DVD at HMV £99.99

If you can get something to push it up over the £100 mark there is a Ten pound off voucher - AG8769

Is that one not included in the set then?

no, that was an "unnoficial" bond with sean connery remaking thunderball, theres no bond theme or ppk in the movie. it's still better than some of the later roger moore efforts though. the original casino royale movie was the other non official film. mgm own the rights to both now

btw, are hmv doing the money off vouchers this year? didn't they have £20 off £100 vouchers in past years? mind those were instore only weren't they, i don't suppose the bond deal is instore is it?

Dont think so - the only in store voucher ive seen is the £5 off £35 online spend that comes in Waterstones discount booklet

i used to buy loads from hmv instore, especially in the sales, but hardly get anything these days, altho i got a few things in the online sales when they had those discount weekends. i tried the £10 voucher posted above and it didn't work, it think it must have expired as the £5 of £35 seems to be the only current one, still thats £95 for 20 movies, when i paid £160 for the 19 flicks in the old tin box. i might keep the old box and put the new dvds in it. shame it's not the attache case. i wonder if the price will keep that low or go lower in the sales

Thanks for the heads-up, I've been eyeing this up for quite a while and was disappointed to find it still priced at £159.99 when I was in HMV [Kingston] yesterday.

I to used the £5 off £35 voucher code, I ordered the set along with Never Say Never Again which whether you like it or not is still a Bond film, albeit unofficially, came to £98.98 with free P&P; although I'm now wondering whether I should have opted for Special Delivery. I can't see the price coming down much more, but then I would say that!

well i ordered it, £95 with the £5 off £35 voucher, so hopefully it'll get despatched today and turn up early next week so i can watch a few before going back to work. i started going thru the old set and found the quality of some of the earlier movies in particular was a bit ropey so stopped watching. thats just under £5 a movie and 2 discs so £2.50 a disc, so can't complain. i think i'll keep the old tin and sell the old discs as a set

V good price.

There are so many types of packaging about for these films, e.g. "Roger Moore collection" etc .... then the "Ultimate volume 1" and so on .. then this box and previously the attaché case.

Is this the best way to get them, price and looks etc?

- looks (virtually) identical to my DVD attaché case

Btw I have an original Lotus Esprit from TSWLM that shoots those orange missiles - unfortunately when I received it as a present in 1978 I didn't think about hanging on to the box and not losing two of the missiles, so I could make a mint on it almost 30 years later :D

This is so tempting. I must resist already have the SE's which cost me 3 times the price of this.

HMV now have the attaché case in stock now for £149.99. I know it is £50 more than the recent box ... but not that many out there now, from e-tailers.

Practically though ..... who would favour the box to the attaché case?

i placed my order with hmv on 22nd dec but it still says order not processed in my account. does anyone else have that, or has anyones order been processed?

Placed mine on the 21st and mine is now awaiting shipment.

Complete, will be despatched in accordance with selected shipping option

Does yours say if it is awaiting stock or anything else??

:smashin:

I ordered mine along with a copy of Never Say Never Again on the 22/12, but up until today I'd heard nothing and was starting to wonder what was going on. Obviously they shut down for a couple of days over Christmas but considering I paid for Special Delivery I had expected it to be shipped sooner, although not before the 25/12.

Anyway, I got a shipping confirmation today for the set, but Never Say Never Again is apparently on special order with their suppliers, not that I'm too worried, but I am now wondering whether I should have forked out another £50 for the attache case which seems to have popped up again:

£50 just for a case seems a bit over the top, I'm sure the box will do just fine!

my set was shipped yesterday. i would have liked the case, but i prefer £50 better :D

thing is, i have the old set in the metal tin, but it just sits on the shelf amongst loads of other dvds and doesn't do anything, so i really don't need the fancy packing. mind, i'll keep the old tin and sell the old dvds and put the new ones in the old tin

hopefully the set turns up tomorrow as i fancy watching some of the earlier movies i couldn't face rewatching on the old set due to the awful PQ. i'm also looking forward to the 5.1 mixes as listening to action stuff in mono when you are used to modern 5.1 mixes makes the movie sound very flat

I don't think any of the new R2's have mono audio.

Just so you know - HMV Manchester had the box version for £99.99 *in store* the other day.

Mine was shipped yesterday via Special Delivery but there's still no sign of it as of yet. Anyway, I've just phoned the HMV customer service number and spoken to a nice lady who at first said that I would need to claim the P&P back from Royal Mail, but after a short discussion and after being put on hold for a short while she told me that she would refund the extra £10 I had paid :D

I suggest you do the same if you've paid any extra for shipping!

Received mine this morning :)

Received mine this morning :)

i hope mines turns up otherwise i'm not going to get it till wednesday at the earliest, and i'll be back at work then, otherweise i could watch a few of them whilst i'm still off work

I had £25 worth of HMV vouchers left over from Christmas and when i saw the silver box on the shelf in my local store, i finally caved in! With my vouchers it meant that only £75 came out of my own pocket (£3.75 per film) and i've managed to sell my old set for £80! Result!

Oh and in my opinion, the 'silver box' edition does look far classier than the attache case! :p
