Jailbreaking and future firmware updates

As a novice with iphones i have a factory unlocked iphone 4 if it is jail broken can i still update to the latest firmware with itunes,are there any pitfalls i should know before doing the update.

What firmware version do you have? My guess is version 4.1 which is the current firmware version

Currently, there is jailbreak for 4.1 call limera1n or GreenPois0n. I think limera1n is more popular.

When you jailbreak it, download TinyUmbrella and save your SHSH file for your iPhone 4.

Finally, if & when firmware 4.2 is released by Apple, DON'T UPDATE THE FIRMWARE ON YOUR IPHONE TO 4.2 and wait for a jailbreak for 4.2
