Good film and i'll pick it up when it's under £15, that £34.99 Amazon price is a joke even though it'll be £19.99 by release. The blu can be had used for the princely total of 9p plus £1.26 postage
This and all the Mission: Impossibles dropping on the same day. Eek!
pre-ordered as well..... fingers crossed for a dts:x soundtrack that make those opening gunshots hit even harder than the standard blu!
£17.99 at Zoom? It would be rude not to
The American press release states a 7.1 soundtrack, ie what we already have.
Jack Reacher 4K Blu-ray
Will be curious on the PQ as this film is a big favourite of mine, and I'm very tempted to upgrade. If there is indeed an upgrade.
thats a disappointment - tempted to cancel my pre order as the pq on the standard blu is already top notch.
Mixed in Atmos and a no-show on the 4K UHD is strange.
cancelled my pre order - no atmos and apparently the 4k is not a massive upgrade over the standard blu.
My copy is on the way from Zoom. Looking forward to seeing this - I don't have Atmos but can see that its omission is a bit annoying for those lucky enough to have an Atmos setup.
Thanks for reminding me, just ordered £17.99 with promo code.
My copy despatched from Zoom too
This and the Mission: Impossible set en route **squeeeeeee**
Got mine from Zoom today and the Wife has gone away for a few days.....and I left the disc at work today
This is in Zoom's BOGOF posted in the Bargains thread here
Looks a fab transfer (the old Blu-ray was amazing).
UHD looks disappointing going by the pics.
Jack Reacher • US Ultra HD Blu-ray vs. US Blu-ray
You had a chance to fire it up yet?
I watched my copy - I can't say it was much better than the Blu to be honest. Seeing as the Blu is excellent, that's no bad thing!
I had not picked the blu up but seeing this was in the 2 for £20 at Zoom the other day. so even if a minor upgrade (although wish it had been a huge one) it still an upgrade from nothing.
The gunshots at the beginning are still excellent and make me jump!
All the reviews including this one seem accurate to me having had a quick look through the disc myself.
Those screengrabs (like the vast majority of screengrabs) are just fake images -best watching motion pictures in motion.
It does look and sound amazing (makes me jump out of my seat) on a HDR 65". If I didn't have that setup I'd not bother (the better these transfers get the better (or more updated) the kit you need).
If it's any sort of improvement on the sky ultra hd offering which already looks pretty damn good I'll be very happy.
You are absolutely right about watching in motion but calling screengrabs as fake is plain wrong.
Remember Xylon at AVSForum. He was THE guy for Comparison PIX and they were uncompressed and grabbed from the discs. It influenced so many with purchasing the films.
The guys have spent time in scanning the disc plus doing screen grabs. The only issue I see with the UHD screengrabs is most of them are converted from HDR to SDR or simulated and viewing in SDR monitors.
Damn, got a duplicate post and then both were deleted
I was saying...
I don't see any proper UHD (2160p) images on that site but there is a massive amount of extra detail looking at the hinge and corner of the glasses:
Not that I trust screen grabs but that detail is there when I toggle between the Blu-ray and UHD. I'm having my cake and eating it. I do see new artefacts from my screen grab of the screen grab too.
Screen grabs seem to be mostly used by people who don't own the disc (T2 UHD a good example) and like using the 'evidence' as a battering ram.
Snake oil tech.
It will be an improvement as the disc version has HDR whereas the Sky Q version doesn't.
