I've just bought 2 lithium compatible batteries for my wifes new ixus 500. I paid 11.45 including delivery for the two - direct from Hong Kong from an ebay seller.
I have bought from the same seller before and as last time the batteries are excellent and outlast the original.
The sellers ebay id is zoo2003yy

    NB-1LH 840 mAH
    NB-1L 750mAH

so the LH is just a higher capacity battery.

With a quick Google search I found the NB-1L for £15.85 Here
and the NB-1LH for £31.32 Here

You may well get them cheaper as this was just a quick search and I have never used either of the 2 sites listed so am unable to recommend them

That explains why the compatibles I have last so long - they are 1050mAH.

I understand why you may prefer to buy originals. Having bought compatibles 3 times now I will not be buying branded again. The camcorder battery I bought previously was also higher capacity than standard.

Totally agree with RobertP, go with the eBay seller in Hong Kong. The compatible batteries tend to last far longer and be much cheaper.
