Anybody out there tried it or heard it? I am using a budget 5 metre length of standard phono to phono cable into a KEF 30B and feel it's time for an upgrade. Is the Ixos any good and what price is it ? Also interested in any recommendations you may have on a budget of £100 plus has anyony got any tips on the KEF 30B

Dont waste your money , stick with what you,ve got. You probably wont gain much in upgrading. If you do you dont need to spend £100.
Buy some more movies instead !!!

    Andy,

No i havn,t heard it ! I just dont see the point in spending that sort of money on sub cable. I would not spend more than say £30 or so. It,s not so important for a sub.

There are some great movies out at the mo !!! lol

Sorry to disagree with you kev but have tried an expensive 1m length in the same position and there was a large difference. But needing a 5m length this would prove way too expensive.

i would also agree with kev, as i have tried expensive stuff and a simple £5 quid one from tandy. and no difference was heard. And it stands to reason if you think about it.

Reason being, the signal that travels down a sub is very low frequencies and therefore not as prone to distortion as the high order frequencies.

    The kit i own is a avc-a10se and a rel Q150e.

but if you have heard a difference then who am i to oppose?

THanks for the input Justin. Although the signal may be prone to less distortion surely it must be prone to signal loss over a long distance, Making quality count. Am i making sense? Anybody else out there who have used different cables. What have you used? What results have you had, good or bad. Cheers:confused:

I also agree with KEV. Just get a decent one, without spending extortionate ammounts. I have a £25 profigold one and it's fine. Spending £75 more would probably give a 1-2% increase of quality. Law of diminishing returns.

OH! How I hate having to admit defeat. I think i'll keep what i've got and buy some discs although they are harder to hide from the other half than a cable.

I have just bought the 3m budget Ixos subwoofer cable which cost me £9.95 from avland.

It sounds fine to me on my original Q Bass

    Hi

If you want to upgrade to get good quality and shielding without spending a fortune, get a length made up by Maplins. :)

    Cheers.
