Hi there.
Next week, I'm going to take the plunge and finally buy an SLR. I've decided to go with the Canon 350D, and am going to get the Tamron 70-300mm lens with it. However, I do have some questions that I'd be grateful for help with...
1) The black 350d with EF-S 55mm lens costs £450. But for £10 more, the silver 350D comes with the USM 55mm lens and a Canon bag. What does the USM lens do, and why does all of this cost only a tenner more? Do people not buy silver or something?
2) Is the Tamron 70-300mm a decent lens? I will pay £100 for it with the camera from Jessops.
3) Can anybody recommend a cheap bag that will be padded and have room for a camera and two lenses? Ideally I'd like to pay 15-25 quid.
4) I've noticed a Sandisk compact flash card at 1GB will set me back about 20quid inc P+P. But cheaper brands seem to give me twice as much for the same cost. Can these cheaper brands be trusted?
5) Is it worth me paying £50 for 3 years accidental damage cover at Jessops? Also, I know dust getting on the sensor can be a big problem- how do people avoid this? Is it possible to completely avoid? Does this not deplete the sensor over time? Is simply facing the body towards the ground and quickly changing lenses sufficient?
Ok, sorry to ask so many questions. But I'd be so grateful for help. I've been reading through this excellent forum and people seem to know their stuff.
Cheers, Robert
