I've got Man-flu

Or as my unsympathetic wife calls it... a cold :(

I always seem to pick them up, someone only has to sniff in a 100m radius and I'll catch a cold.

Does anyone know if there's any truth in the "3 days coming, 3 days staying, 3 days going" saying ?

I normally take a bucket load of vitamin C pills when I think I'm getting a cold, but this time, the Vit C seems to slowed it down but give me a dry cough and the sh*ts :(

My Nan used to give me a 1/2 pint of hot water, whiskey, orange squash, sugar and crushed up asprin before I went to bed when I was a kid.... I must say it helped me sleep.... felt even worse in the morning though

Anyone got any cold 'cures' that they swear by ?

Man Flu eh?

we all get that. :D

out of interest do you smoke? i stopped smoking nearly 2 years ago and i haven't had "man flu" anywhere near as much as i used too.

Advice:
drag the quilt downstairs and put a film on :D, fidget about, moaning to yourself that nobody cares, drag the quilt back up stairs get into bed, sweat alot, thrash about (moaning) drag quilt back downstairs (still moaning that nobody cares) try to watch something else. (moan some more). take some expensive stuff you bought in Boots, that does you no good whatsoever but it costs you a tenner so it must be good. you finall realise that you are really ill when you have no interest in porn :D

take care mate. :smashin: its horrible.

Your Nan's recipe is almost right, just leave out the 1/2 pint of hot water, the orange squash, the sugar and the crushed up aspirin .Perfect.:D

Take a combination vitamin C /zinc supplement.
I always find Sinutab to be great , really takes the edge off but it can give you a funny taste in your mouth and it can irritate your sinus. Don't take it at night though as its loaded with caffiene.

large single-malt with warm water and honey, followed swiftly by the hottest curry you can handle (lamb phaal recomended  ), then a red hot bath, another large whisky, and bed.

Any virus that survives this routine for more than 2 days is gonna be fatal anyway. :D

I used to take Vitamin C and Zinc against colds ever since I was kid. However, recently I read this interesting article in the Times where scientists have discovered that it doesn't make any difference if you take vitamin c or not (can't bear thinking of all that money I wasted...). The only slight difference they discovered was that if you take vast quanitites (2-3 grams) as soon as you notice cold symptoms then the cold will be a bit shorter (but you'll still get it).

I guess your only hope will be the new Vicks spray coming out soon, read here

Another interesting scientific discovery is that people who wash their hands frequently get less colds as most times you introduce the virus to your mouth/nose/eyes yourself with your hands... :lesson:

As others have said curry seems to work wonders for me. Arguably seems to help as prevention rather than cure.

No Gary, that's medically known as Death. Which is also natures way of telling you to slow down :)
