    Its better than nothing!

I actually really like the clone wars series. A live version wouldnt be that bad.

If they are succesfull, they may go on to producing a show set after episodes 4,5,6.

The merchandising from that TV Series is probably going fund Lucas' retirement fund :)

I'm hoping for good things from this, if it's done with the same thoughtfulness as the Clone Wars series then we're in for a treat! There's certainly plenty of material they can use with plenty of characters to accentuate. :)

I think it'd be great. My kids love the animated series already.

Have already got the Clone Wars animated DVD on pre-order

    Looking forward to that.

I think if they do it right, a live action TV series could be really good.

Because it's going to be like TPM, AOTC and ROTS...it's going to be glossy, smooth and have none of the character or heart that made the original trilogy spectacular and classic.

Not a fan of "Star Wars" but think this has the potential to be better than the current crop of movies.

Look at it this way. They won't be able to deliver SFX extravaganzas on the scale of the movies, therefore they could afford to focus more on plot and character development. Also episodic television in the USA is much more adventurous in its storytelling, subject matter and risk taking than blockbuster movies with hundreds of millions of dollars at stake.

Secondly, Lucas is not going to be involved in the writing or directing on this series. In his own words he is setting it up and handing it over to others. Prime time drama in the USA with the type of budget and production values this will have, usually have a good track record and given the prestige of the franchise has the potential to attract top writing talent.

Remember - the best of the movies was not written or directed by Lucas.

Ah but look at the recent history of Sci-fi and Fantasy shows Farscape, Firefly, Angel, Crusade, Enterprise, Point Pleasant, Space: Above and Beyond. All series that have had a faithful fan base. What do all of these have in common?

All have been cancelled before they ran there course.

The Star Wars brand name is only going to carry this so far. But then again the SW brand name is going to be cancelled out by having 3 little words attached to it Sci Fi Television.

As long as the sfx are decent, I think this should be quite good too!

I agree with the pauly in that it is going to be very different from Star Wars movies concentrating on stories and characters more than special-effects. Although given the special effects and designs available it could potentially be one of the biggest and most visually stunning sci-fi series ever shown on television. My only concern if they aim it too much at the kids making it an episode of the week type of show. As long as we get some good characters (plus good actors to play them) and long term preferably arc heavy storylines to mix in with the special-effects and action I'll be happy.
