I don't watch ITV very often, hardly at all in fact, but those new logos (don't know what you call them - the ones with the 'itv stars' staring into the camera) are just utterly horrible!! Especially the one with that Waterman bloke from Pop Idol - he just creeps me out, in fact I have to look away! I don't want strange people staring at me from my TV! :(

What is the point of them?
How much did it cost them as well?
It just takes time up, why not use the time at the end of the program to advertise an other program rather than interrupt the end titles.

The point of them is to get people talking about ITV because most people

Yes, but its having the opposite effect because I am even more less likely to watch ITV now than I was before! ;)

Well, I think they should perhaps put better programmes on ITV - that'd be the sure fire way to get more people to tune in  Doh! :D

Perhaps they are trailers for a shoot 'em up computer game!

Ahh, but that's logic. Something that's a preciously rare commodity in the television industry.

Sorry, but i actually quite like them.

Would be better though if they used people like Phillipa Forrester, Nadine from Popstars - The Rivals, Martine McCutchen, Dannii Minogue and that really fit bird who presents the weather.

    Spotting a theme here?

They remind me of when the players were introduced on Shooting Stars :)

    Hi,

I only watch one show on ITV, and that's "The District" which airs late on Saturday nights.

Apart from that, alongside C4, they are my most hated TV station! Hell, even Channel 5 is better than them in terms of quality programming!

 Channel 4 is the best station on the planet imho. Nobody else comes close to the diverse, intelligent, and cutting edge programs they produce (well maybe not Richard & Judy! :D ). It is by far my most watched terrestrial channel.

Ditto, although I watch BBC1 and Ch4 in about equal proportions so they are jointly my most watched channels :)

    Hi,

Okay, I grant you that C4 has given us "The Sopranos", "Six Feet Under" and "The West Wing". However, they've also:-

    - censored practically every cult TV show they air
    - air adult shows at kids times ("Alias", "Smallville", Angel")
    - put superb shows in the middle of the night ("Third Watch", "Philly")
    - not bothered to promote some US dramas at all
    - given us "Z-List Celeb Butt Blubber 3" and "Z-List Celeb Butt Blubber's Little Blubber's Botox Injection", not to mention
    - Kermit O'Dreary
    - June Wide-Grin Girly Sarpong
    - dropped "Right To Reply"
    - foistered endless incessant repeats, of repeats, of repeated editions of repeats of "Friends" on both C4 and E4.

and I've barely even scratched the surface!

So, yes, C4 is a really great TV station! And then, we have the superb Channel 5, which some parts of the country can't even receive, and yet they've given us viewers:
    - "The Shield", "CSI: Crime Scene Investigations" and "Law And Order" at decent times of the evening, with weekly repeats when you can actually catch them
    - "Charmed" Season 4, less than 3 months after the end of Season 3!
    - "Dark Angel" on Saturday evenings!
    - Dropped their "5" on-screen logo
    - introduced uncut widescreen movies
    - shown some films with no advert breaks in them!!

And amazingly, we're also going to get:
    - "Law And Order: Special Victims Unit" and "CSI: Miami" in the New Year!

So, who still thinks that C4 is a great channel, now then?!

    1. They're intended to help the ITV regions re-brand under the name 'ITV One'. It's meant to unify the regions and distinguish the main channel from ITV Two in viewers' minds.

    2. If you look at the 'stars' involved in the trails, I would think they didn't get paid anything more than their set fees for appearing on theor respective ITV shows. As with the fees film stars receive, the money covers and awful lot more of their time than the appearance on the show/film alone.

    I agree that they're crap though :)

You are talking nonsense Pooch. :) To compare channel four with channel five is just dumb! channel five is little better than sky one - it predominantly shows imported or bought tv shows. Channel Four make most of their programming.

All the shows you mention are american imports for goodness sake! What about all the fabulous and unique shows ch4 make themselves? And they were the first to broadcast in widescreen - and we haven't even mentioned film-four yet ;)
