I've got 6gb mini Ipod and have just downloaded Itunes V.6. Unfortunately, when I plug my Ipod in to update my Pc crashes! I've tried to use the Ipod updater software to restore the Ipod to factory settings but again, as soon as I plug the Ipod in it freezes up. Help!

Just wait until you try to import something - iTunes 6 will crash every time.

Loads of traffic on the Apple website, they have really dropped the ball on this one.

ditto - I'm currently enjoying the pleasure of backing up all my files to do a complete restart - personally I think it is due to the bundling with Quicktime - if you want to uninstall for any reason there is so much debris from both programs spread around that you can't fully and cleanly unistall it - I tried to go back to an earlier version of itunes but it just freezes up..

    sigh

So much for all the Apple hype about how much better their software is than Microsoft's!

There were reports of the mac version crashing when accessing itms - turned out it was a software conflict with a 3rd party font application... also some norton software has issues with itunes 6 on a pc. Maybe you're experiencing summut similar.

itunes 6 works flawlessly for me

I had lots of problems contending with Norton Anti-Virus. I ended up uninstalling Itunes, and Quicktime. Also used the Microsfot Removal Tool to get rid of Ipod software also. So a complete cleanout. Then I reinstalled Itunes 6.0 with Quicktime whilst NAV was turned off, and disconnected from internet of course ;) Also reinstalled the Ipod software (not sure if this is needed) And it installed first time and I have used it to import a CD also, connected it up to my Ipod. NAV is a definate contention issue when installing, both in my experience and others on the Apple discussions forums.

    Cheers

    Andy

I'm running McAfee, rather than Norton Anti-Virus. All other previous versions of iTunes have been fine, so I shall wait for a couple of days to see whether they issue an appropriate patch, then uninstall and reinstall as a last resort.

I've taken Norton Anti Virus off my computers completely and use the free version of AVG which seems to be better (in my view) :)

The installation instructions for 99% of applications does always mention disabling Anti-Virus software when installing.

Completely uninstalled it, reinstalled from a fresh download, and it still crashes when importing a cd.

I can only wish the person who compiled this version learns to write code that isn't bugged in future.

:D Only software companies can get away with releasing something for "stability improvements", why can't they admit they screwed up and are fixing their mistakes ;)

Version 6.0.1.3 is the version that was already up - that file hasn't changed.

I spoke too soon! Ipod is failing to update again. I've un-installed and re-installed Itunes(with Norton off) and still no joy. Im getting pretty fed up with this! Itunes 5 worked fine and wished I had just stuck with it. I've tried to use the Ipod software updater to reset it but it is not recognising the Ipod. Anyone got any other suggestions???
