It's probably been done to death but should I change my A2 for a Denon?

Now that the Denon 3803 is freely available the price of the 3802 has plummeted. I can get one for £499 and that was without searching hard.

My current Yammy DSP-A2 is obviously restricted to 5.1 channels of DD and DTS. Is it woth my while swapping it for the 3802 and getting the extra juicy bits like DPLII etc?

Hopefully the exercise shouldn't cost me much more than £250 to do, but will I be happy with the sound?

    Any input welcome

    Thanks

Don't know if it helps, but, I changed my A2 for a Harman Kardon amp.

It was worth it for the Logic 7.

The HK does have a more mature sound.

It will do 7 channels with an extra amp, but for me not really a concern as my room is bonkers with the 5 channels + sub.

The HK has more 'better' power.

Against the Denon I'd expect the same sort of benefits.

PLII is a bonus in my books. Not spectacular, but a definate gain.

The 'built in' 7 channels is good if you can fit them all
Ask Taz directly. He sold an A2 to buy a 3803. He is a smidge soft in the head, but I'm sure he'll give you an accurate answer-ish.

Having said that though, the A2 is a really, really good amp. At times I do wonder if the A2 wouldn't be better back here.

Unless you are going mega up the ladder, or are sure the 3803 is for you, I can definately vouch for the fact that an A2 is the corner stone arguement against!!!! upgrading, it really is that good!
