So 2016,17, 18 and 19 have been and gone. Budget TVs from supermarkets are 4K HDR OLED. Bluray and DVD collections are obsolete due to 4K HDR re-releases of back catalogues.

What do you think will be next?

More of the same imo.

Did we see a vast improvement in LCD in 4 years, or did they just correct their mistakes as the years rolled on?

Bigger TVs will become cheaper of course. This years flagships will retail below 1k by then (obv not the silly sized ones). HDR will be standard on all sets. All AV gear will run 4k as standard. I expect 4k will be in all model ranges for AVRs for next year.

Bluray nor DVD will become obsolete in that time. Not everyone can afford to spend large amounts of money on gadgets or any money at all....something this forum seems to forget. A 1500 tv to me is an easily affordable luxury now, but 5 years back when I worked min wage I'd have bitten your fingers of for a cheap 400 quid 40" set to replace the 19" set I had at the time.
