It will only come from an official press release

I don't mind people posting "all that they know" about Sky HD and what someone has told them. The simple fact is though that this information will only be released by official press release. It is market sensitive information (ie can affect share price). Only those who need to know the information at the moment will know, and these are people that sky trusts not to release the information (and in any event would be bound by strict confidentiality obligations). Sky would never allow the information to be released in a way that would allow somone to manipulate the market based on inside information (insider trading) - nor would any other FTSE 350 company. So post away, but everyone should realise that no matter what anyone says, the information being posted here is rumours only. Some rumours may even come from sky itself, but not from the people who actually know the truth.

It didn't contain any market sensitive information such as price and release date.

The powerpoint presentation didn't mention price.

I agree we're just getting rumours after rumours spread. I am bored with it. Time to find another hobby for a little while.:)

Telewest TVdrive launched without anyone knowing! I found out on here. There was nothing on the website and people found out from the CS staff regarding when it would be launched.

It was on the BBC site and a some other tech sites. I think SKy will prolly do the same. A quiet press release only on their website that other sites will pick up on when they read it.

I think what the mods should do is create a single sticky entitled "Sky HD: Facts or Fictions" to allow anyone to post their "useful" information and so-called rumours in a single thread. It won't be a discussion thread just purely for information whether it's fact, rumour or pure speculation.

    Seconded!

Sky HD now has 12 pages of threads on this forum with new ones now popping up on a daily basis and its becoming a bit of a joke.

Considering that we know very little officially I think people are taking it upon themselves to add various rumours that they have heard and this is why we are in the state we are now.

A thread as suggested seems to be a good idea!

I'm unsure how helpful or valid this would be, besides it will simply encourage the rumour mill to step up a gear or two.

I talked to an honest Sky representative tonight, and what a breath of fresh air that was. He said they did NOT know the launch date OR the price.

Whilst I can understand Sky's desire for secrecy from a commercial confidentiality point of view , I just don't see the neccessity for a RNS announcement.
Public companies launch significant new products everyday without such action .In this case ,the key information (the plan to launch) is already in the public arena and has been for sometime.Any significant effect is therefore already in the share price.
If it is believed that there will be a share price movement then we perhaps should be buying ahead of the rise or selling short depending on our point of view.
    We shall see.
