It's here! IT's FINALLY HERE!!! Yippee!!!! My Pioneer 435 XDE is here!

Just assembled the desktop stand, and fitted the screen, before the wife left for work! Now I have the rest of the day to play around with it! Plugging in the media box etc.! Can't wait to finally turn it on, although I have a strange paranoia it'll just go "pop"! LOL!!!

Quick question though: when the screen is pictured in magazines, there are usually a pair of NXT-looking silver speakers attached to the screen, on the sides or bottom of the screen. Does anyone know which model number they are, and where I can get some from? Rough price?

Just sold my Pio NS-DV99 system on eBay, and am now left without any sound! Oops! Just want a cheap short term fix, and I figured these speakers might be a good back-up for the future too?

Saying that, the media box is calling me to plug in all the millions of wires, so best get to it! :D

So that's what all the noise was!!

Not sure about the silver ones (PDP S22),mine are black PDP-S26's.Not fantastic quality, but OK for casual listening/telly speakers and they look good.
    See here.

Weird sense of deja vue here, just typed the same thing for the PWD owner, but short term you could connect a hideous old pair of stereo speakers, as long as they are 4-8 ohms the panel will drive them, so the missus can hear eastbenders when she gets in. Then you can take stock, and maybe get some decent surround sound when the card has recovered a bit.

Yep, I've plugged in the "hideous old pair" already. Problem with that - missus thinks they are hideous, I've wasted £3k on a plasma without sound, and that has wires everywhere etc... If you're married, you must know what I mean! Haha!!! My old speakers ruin the look of the ruin, and it just ruined her house and cost us £3k in the process, blah blah blah...

Drd - thanks for info mate! Are your one's the one's that can be mounted on the sides, or the bottom? I want the one's that can be attached on either...

Finally got everything plugged in! The missus rang from work to enquire about pq - told her digital tuner was better than Sky at the moment, so now she things the pq is rubbish, and again, i've wasted £3k without thinking about it... Ugh! Tried explaining the 200 hour thing, and ISF Calibration - but she's not having any of it! Oh dearie me...

Will ISF/200 hours give a significantly better picture? In my opinion though - the picture is not exactly that bad at the moment anyways. It's just not crystal clear if you know what I mean. Incredibly slight fuzzyness...

Drd - pictures tomorrow, once the table arrives for me to put it on! Right now it's on a desktop stand on the carpet - hardly appealing! LOL!!!!

I love it!!!! I have nothing on for the rest of the day, so time to kick back!)

Do an ebay search for them, note any at the mo but there was about 5 sets a few weeks ago. You have the choice of the silver ones that go either the side or underneath (if they are at the side then they aint the full height of the screen) or the black adjustable ones that just go to the side. Seems that lots of people get them in a package deal but then decide to use there own sound system and then sell them on.

Just make do with what you can until some come on ebay or you decide to use a surround system etc

By the way - all I've done is set the language, and plug in the Sky etc... Are there any other settings or stuff that I should fiddle with at the moment?

Or shall I leave it for 200 hours first?

    Thanks again!

Get the brightness and contrast knocked down a bit, it might help with picture noise and fuzziness. Turn off all the 'picture enhancement' features as well, that usually helps.

As Tomo1971 stated, the PDP 26's only side mount either flush or with a small gap as mine.If you look on the back of your screen you will see there are bolt holes ready for them. They are too big to fit across the bottom.

Congrats on the new TV :smashin:
Uncertain of the ISF (as we have not had it done), the 200 hours burn-in period has made a pretty good improvment on our 435XDE. The fuzz has almost disappeared. There was a very mild buzzing sound (if we stood close to the screen), which has also gone.

We are 100% sure, buying a DVD Player/recorder which supports progressive scan will improve PQ. So, the search is on.

    Best of luck.

P.S. Take a look at the Alphason and Tech-Link glass stands for the plasma and equipment - they look amazing!

Like I say, none on at the moment. Maybe post an ad in relevant section on the forums as many of the purists wouldnt imagine having anything other than 5.1 or 7.1 speakers and so someone may want to sell you a pair

The code is 0194 but, you'll need a remote which is fairly recent - has the new database of codes stored within it.

Oh, the code works for SKY. Not sure about SKY+

Concrats J-K on the new tv :smashin:

I m just wondering why have you sold NS-DV99 which I think it gives a very nice sound
and now you are planning to buy that panasonic crap.
The only product that panasonic is good at, is tvs.
And not on all tv technologies.
    Just plasmas.
Their crts and lcds are CRAP.

ISF does make quite a difference  , I'm very pleased with the results and would reccommend having it done on an XDE (unsure about other panels)

Not sure if this will work, but here's my set-up!

    It consists of:

    Pioneer 435 XDE
    Sky + [under unit]
Panasonic SCHT 870 DVD Home Cinema System
Old Sony video player [under unit]

    Like it? :D

P.S. I let the wife watch the OC yesterday, with her new surround sound system - she FINALLY absolutely loves it!

Dilsher - Will definitely get the ISF done! Just waiting for 200 hours to pass! No idea how many have gone already, but guess i'll give it a month? How can I find an ISF calibrator in my area? Is it a common thing?

As for the floor boxes - well, I'd hoped they'd fit in the cabinets - but they just won't! DOH! Don't mind blowing up the video, but i'm praying the Sky+ will be OK! Haha!

Leerock - the pics are from MTV Base on Sky+. Not great picture quality, because screen is less than 24 hours old, and had Sky+ on pause, so pic probably looks dodgier than it should be!

Well, I have to admit, the digital freeview pic is better than the Sky pic, but the sound on Sky is better than digital freeview. Tough dilemna!

But - unless you're a hardcore pq enthusiast, I think Sky is not that bad at all. Saying that, after spending £3k on a screen, you've got to be some kind of enthusiast! Haha! Are you thinking of getting one? Can send you high-res pics via e-mail if you want a closer look?

Should at least put them on some thin perspex or hardboard. Video is probably OK, but sky box runs hot anyway.
