Issues with remote and HD box

Does anyone else have any issues with the slowness of response between the handset and the HD box? I have direct line of sight to the box, sit about 4.5m away and it often takes several pushes of the button to get the box to respond.

Is this an issue with my box, my handset or is this common?

This is my second box - first had a noisey fan, and I have only had HD now for about 3 weeks.

I also have a second HD box in the kids TV room (it is also a feed to a distribution amp for TV's elsewhere in the house) - the TV is a Samsung LCD, and again the response is slow and sometimes the TV doesn't automatically switch over to HDMI input, which means going into the TV settings from time to time.

None of these problems with Sky+ boxes.

Love the picture quality though, even on SD (I have a Panasonic TH46PZ80 in the lounge).

Any thoughts?

I'm in the same boat as you, only sitting a few metres away and it's slow.

Does the LED on your remote flash a few times before you get response from the receiver?

If its a pace then it is crap, simple soloution connect a tv eye above the tv, its cured the problem for me i can point in in any direction and it works fine

Haven't checked the flash rate of the LED, but will later this evening.

Yes, it is a Pace box, but can't be bothered with a magic eye as with HDMI there is no need for a co-ax aerial, but with magic eye there is, and it would be a pain to dismantle things to get my plasma off the wall, just to try it out.

you dont need the magic eye near the TV, you can place it on top of the box if you wish

Was using the oringinal remote at first (PACE Box) and it was terrible.

Dug out my Harmony 885 and it works like a dream, I can point it almost anywhere and it works!

To summise if you've got loads of remotes maybe it's time to purchase a good All in one remote. Just my 2p

Hi,

Had HD installed today and can confirm you have to point the remote directly at the Pace receiver. However, I have a Marantz programmable remote control which controls all my hardware and this doesn't need pointing straight at the HD box.

It's from the same family as Philips Pronto and a great piece of kit.

I have a Pace box now and theres a slight glitch once in a while but nothing compared to any of the 3 Thomson ones ive had. They were really unresponsive.
